'16 TN LB Daniel Bituli (UT commit 7/18/15)

Everybody whiffed on Willis. Ole Miss took him after UT offered him to walk on a year and earn a scholarship. Ole Miss had a scholarship left and UT referred him to Cut and they took the chance. It was the only D1 offer he got. What nobody took into account was his heart and how hard he would work. He didn't have elite speed when he came out of HS but literally worked his tail off.

Bet Nationdom would have campaigned for him. :wink2:

Also no one knows for sure if Willis would have become that kind if linebacker without the chip on his shoulder if getting snubbed by UT. Dude plays angry about it to this day.

Naw he would have been good regardless. His work ethic comes from fighting through his younger years.

LSU has offered 2016 athlete Daniel Bituli out of Nashville (Tenn.) Christian School. Bituli is a 6-3, 223-pounder that plays both running back and linebacker for his high school team but LSU is recruiting him as a linebacker. The offer came from defensive coordinator John Chavis.

LSU adds to Bituli's offer list that includes Tennessee, Ole Miss and Louisville. Already Tennessee and Ole Miss have Crystal Ball predictions from national experts.

A physically freakish prospect, Bituli is currently ranked by 247Sports as the No. 9 outside linebacker in the country.

If Chavis wants him, then Butch better not hold nothin back... maybe get Khalil on this :). Need to get him in Orange and White!

Meant to report that last Friday CPA scrimmaged NCS. Couple of notes.

Bituli was unfortunately a non factor. He was very unproductive at RB, and NCS' defense pretty much got owned by CPA. He looked very tired. NCS has no depth hardly so he played pretty much the whole game. From an upside stand point the sky is the limit for the this kid. He is the 2nd tallest player on the team besides Alex givens. He looks like an athlete, but he just doesn't look very impressive yet.

With that being said, I believe he is a take for Tennessee just on pure size and upside. He can be a real player for UT.

I will say I definetly think he will be a OLB in college, like I said he wasn't very good at RB, and was surprisingly easy to tackle. Also Alex Givens is a monster. He is huge, but very lazy. He quits early on almost every rep. With the right coaching he could be a great player but I understand why UT never heavily pursued him.

That's my insider info. Thanks for reading.

I think you're right on Bituli, it's all upside and potential with him right now.

I came away with the same impression on Givens. Huge with a solid frame but looks and plays soft in his clips. Just not impressed with what I saw out of him.

Oh yeah Bituli is another guy Ole Miss mods swear is a lock to them LOL

It would make sense if he went to HS in Memphis (especially MUS), but he doesn't. No idea why they are saying that. Maybe they know something we don't?

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that their mods think they are going to land every single recruit that they either offer or receive a visit from.

New article up on Scout. Says he has "two at the top." I can't read the article, but I'm guessing it's us and Ole Miss?

I don't think they will finish any better than fourth in the west this year, and I think that will be their peak. Other SECW teams are recruiting too good and have good coaching too. When kids see that they have reached their peak, that will be the end of it. I'm sure they will still take a few from the Memphis area every now and then, but that will be it IMO.

"I love the coaches and the fans. They were amazing," Bituli said. "I talked to coach Thigpen, and you know coach Thigpen he is just crazy. I got called into Coach Jones' office and talked to him, and also the wide receiver coach too."

"It was nice. It meant a lot for him to let me come in there and he told me they are building a true foundation and they are only heading in the right direction from here on out," Bituli said.

"Their defense played really good the whole time. Their defense held Florida in check the way I saw it," Bituli said.

"I saw how well the coaches and the players got along," Bituli said. "The relationships they have with their players is great. To truly have a great team you have to have a great relationship with your players and I saw that. They were so comfortable on defense and they knew how to communicate with eachother on defense."

I was wondering how big a priority this guy is and I think we have our answer. Not every prospects meets with CBJ when your hosting 250 visitors.

...and not every visitor's mom gets "Happy Birthday" messages. Butch pulling out the stops. Bituli is definitely a priority
