@KyleEllisWV: Tennessee HC Rick Barnes is in attendance watching John Fulkerson & the Tennessee Bobcats take on Team United. http://t.co/JNbskHpT9m

Looks like he's watching porn to me. lol

Nab, gotta give you props here, he looks the part of potential here.(thanks krager) I see length, effort, bball IQ and a fairly decent floater/jumper. Not to mention the awkwardness of being a lefteye. Good call. I hope he decides to be a Vol.

I got you CA.

John Fulkerson's Men's Basketball Recruiting Profile

^ North Carolina sports site has a 2:30 video.

Fulkerson reminds me of the type of player Vanderbilt would go after and every year you go "wow this guy isn't bad, where'd he come from". Fulkerson has a nice shot, pretty good athletic ability for a guy his size, can stretch the floor with his length but is still working on his perimeter shot. A pretty solid "glue guy".

Thanks Krag. Seems like a solid glue guy but would love to see some film from this AAU circuit that's garnered him so much interest.

Nice game, Good rim protector. He has my stamp of approval.

I especially like how on offensive and defensive rebounds he keeps him eye on the ball and times it perfectly. If nothing else comes available, can't hurt to take a risk.

I no longer live in Knoxville, not even in Tennessee, so I feel like I can speak with some authority about how we are viewed in a regional/national perspective.

So again, that isn't necessarily how I view things, but I can assure that the common fan thinks Tennessee basketball was a dumpster fire prior to making a pretty good hire in Rick Barnes. That hire, while I wasn't in love with it personally, was viewed from outside Knoxville as a pretty solid one considering the clown shoes operation we were perceived to be running with Pearl's issues, the perception that we ran off a Sweet 16 coach (Martin), and the debacle of the Tyndall hire.

Bruce Pearls clown shoes operation??? The Best 6 years in program history was a clown shoes operation?

Clown shoes operation = the last five years as a whole. This includes Pearl's NCAA issues, the outward appearance that we "ran off" a Sweet 16 coach, and Tyndall's NCAA issues.

I was speaking on behalf of the sum of the last 5 years with that comment, not solely Pearl's tenure.

Didn't see him play last year after he left DB but saw him several times in 2013-2014. I never would have pictured him as a 3. Maybe he added some quickness. Would have thought a 4 for sure. Seemed like really good kid.

Tend to agree with you. No SEC,ACC schools on that list. Not getting excited at the moment on this recruit.

You might want to go back and read the last few pages. It's a discussion about this very issue and about how some big time schools are showing interest.

Baylor has shown me interest for academic achievement's, doesn't mean I can go for sure. Just saying.

Has Baylor had a faculty member watch you at school?

I agree it doesn't mean that they will definitely offer, but there is tangible proof that some good basketball schools are interested in this kid. Not even sure why we second guess a coach who clearly can spot talent, but it is a message board.

I understand that, but if the president or the dean of the university came to check and see how well you were doing, it would say a lot. Fulkerson has plenty of HCs watching him. It'd be another thing if it was just an assistant. Doesn't guarantee an offer, but it speaks highly of his game.

Ah, you beat me to the point. Bravo!

But another way to look at it is this kid has been in front of a lot of head coaches in the past month yet we are still the only high level offer.

If he truly was blowing people away wouldn't he have big offers flowing in??

I've gotten a phone call and a few letters, nothing big.

(big) IF Fulkerson's game translates to the next level he does fit Barnes' model as a potentially strong shot blocker.
Also RayK 's forte. Barnes eats and sleeps rim protection.
