'16 TN F Braxton Blackwell

I know a lot of top guys want to play with other top players, but that's not always the case. Some top players would rather go to a school like UT and be the man. He would get more exposure being the top man here than at a UK, Duke, Louisville type of program. He would just be one of many good players at those types of programs. Maybe he wants to be the man that leads us back to the dance and turns around our program for the good. You also got the friendship he has with Bonds. This is all probably wishful thinking, but who really knows.

He would get more exposure at Kentucky in 1 season than he would in Knoxville for 4. Even if he was a role player there.

Let me ask a question here? When his mom made her initial appearance on VolNation, she talked about one of his primary reasons for choosing to go to Liberty University was because it was a religious institution and that was very important to her family. Likewise, she said that when he chose to walk on at Tennessee that that was also an important part of Coach T's life was a determining factor. Now that Braxton Bonds has experienced a year of life as a Tennessee Vols basketball player along with the coaching, do you feel that he might also offset that. Also, this NCAA ordeal should be over and done with before he ever commits. If Tennessee and Coach T remain unscathed, doesn't that improve their chances to land Blackwell? He could be the missing piece for that championship season.

I don't know SD. This is a tough one. Blackwell and Bonds are two very different players. Blackwell can write his ticket almost to anywhere. Although I hate to say it he has better options Beyond Tennessee. He is our missing piece and we can truly use him but do we stand a chance against his list of offers? We are a struggling BB program. He has to decide if he wants to struggle with us for a year or two or if he wants to go to a program where he can sail on immediately. Which option is more beneficial for him? That's the question.

A lot of 4 and 5 star players want to play with other highly rated players. It's as simple as that sometimes.

Jabari was just about to sign at a school in a conference where he felt like he could dominate. Instead when the opportunity knocked at TN he chose to come here to play against highly rated players in the SEC. He said that would only make him a better player. So I truly understand what you're saying.

..and this could very well be the case. He may just rather wait on that championship ring for a couple of years. no need to hurry over to Duke, UK or Louisville. Lol. I'm curious though...what would you do in this situation? If given the opportunity would you choose TN or a similar program over Duke, UK or Louisville?

I don't agree with that one bit. How many average fans know the role players on UK's roster? There is no way he would get more exposure being a role player at Kentucky compared to being the one and only legit star at Tennessee. If he was a first round pick playing at either school, then yeah he'd get more exposure at UK.

If I had the opportunity to go anywhere it would be really hard to pass up a free education from a school like Duke, Stanford, Arizona Michigan State, Virginia, etc. Personally, I love Tenn and they would be in my top 5 but to play in an environment like Duke or for coaches like Izzo, Coach K, etc would be really hard to pass up.

I bet more people have heard of Devin Booker/Tyler Ulis than Josh Richardson. Every walk on Kentucky's team has been exposed to more NBA scouts this season than every Tennessee team since Pearl left combined.

Hell, I barely know who Ulis is. And I know damn well no NBA scouts do. 5-10 guards don't have their attention.

Jeff Goodman said yesterday that scouts know exactly who Ulis is, and they like him for what he is, which is a 5-8 PG who is a likely 3-4 year player. Goodman said he'd be a 2nd rd pick right now, so he has no business even entertaining the thought of leaving, which I'm sure he probably knows.

Talk about a stable PG situation for UK if he does stay 2-3 years.

The kid is magic. Watched him shred Arky's press in the SEC tourney like it was nothing.

I thought this was pretty ironic. Too bad he will be at the real UT. Sorry Shaka

@DrewMaddux: 2016 Braxton Blackwell (CPA Nashville,TN) just received an offer from the University of Texas.
