'16 TN F Braxton Blackwell

Tyger is the real freakin deal.

You are putting it mildly. This kid has as much upside as I have seen. Blackwell is good but not a one and done guy. He has to figure out if he's a 3 or a 4. He seems to want to be a 3 but he doesn't have a shot yet.

If we get Blackwell and Ado plus keeping Romello White committed, getting Kimani Jackson and having Carmicheal, McGee, and Owens on the team then Blackwell will probably be a 3, for us. Now at Vandy or Louisville he may be a 4, i don't know.

Hoping for a lineup like this in 2016: (based off of 13 scholarship limit)

2PG: Gray or Trent (depending on which we land), Bonds
3SG: Hubbs and then Phillips or Mostella (favoring Phillips because I think he is underrated and is bigger)
2SF: Blackwell (if we get him) or Schofield
4PF: McGee, Carmicheal, Jackson, White (like Jackson but McGee will be a monster here)
2C: Ado, Owens ( I like Owens and think he can grow and be really effective in the zone but Ado is just a freak of nature)

Plus Walk ons. I think that would be a very solid team with very good Froncourt depth which we will need. This would defintely be a tourney team with CDT.

That's a good team right there . May the recruiting gods look favorably upon us

We will need it. Landing Ado and Blackwell will be hard. Good news is bonds is helping with Blackwell and Ado really wants to go to a good bussiness school and UT excels in that department compared to others. Also having Ado visit three times this year and Balckwell at the UT Vandy game and sitting behind UTs bench is helpful.

He could easily end up being the best player to ever come out of CPA. He was just and 8th grader this year, right?

I like Dazon Ingram at PG.

Can you elaborate? Based on gut feeling or things you have heard?

Both a gut feeling and things I've heard. He's a low-keyed quiet kid (choir boy type) who is not used to hard nose coaching ( cussing, fussing, in your face, etc). He's also a top ranked 4* player. If I'm him and I'm looking at the BIG picture, why would I subject myself to a program under the kind of scrutiny TN is under right now? Have you seen his list of offers? The boy can go anywhere! The door is wide open! His only bond here is Bond. I don't think friendship will be the determining factor in him making decision. I could be wrong but It's JMO. However, I would love to see our team get him.

Let me ask a question here? When his mom made her initial appearance on VolNation, she talked about one of his primary reasons for choosing to go to Liberty University was because it was a religious institution and that was very important to her family. Likewise, she said that when he chose to walk on at Tennessee that that was also an important part of Coach T's life was a determining factor. Now that Braxton Bonds has experienced a year of life as a Tennessee Vols basketball player along with the coaching, do you feel that he might also offset that. Also, this NCAA ordeal should be over and done with before he ever commits. If Tennessee and Coach T remain unscathed, doesn't that improve their chances to land Blackwell? He could be the missing piece for that championship season.

A lot of 4 and 5 star players want to play with other highly rated players. It's as simple as that sometimes.

AuntieDee knows what's up. Solid reasoning.

It wasn't blackwell's mom,it was bonds.

Yep and by context you can understand that. Thought it was pretty clear. Anyways Blackwell is going to Louisville IMO and we get Ado, White, Quentin Jackson and Hughes

We are after so many players I forgot, who is Hughes ? Lol

I know a lot of top guys want to play with other top players, but that's not always the case. Some top players would rather go to a school like UT and be the man. He would get more exposure being the top man here than at a UK, Duke, Louisville type of program. He would just be one of many good players at those types of programs. Maybe he wants to be the man that leads us back to the dance and turns around our program for the good. You also got the friendship he has with Bonds. This is all probably wishful thinking, but who really knows.
