'16 TN CB Dorian Banks (Former UT commit)

Interesting...

"No, I don't think that's an issue. Family considerations might be part of the reason — I believe he has family in Sevierville and in Gallatin — and in his text message to me announcing the move, he actually cited "unsafe surroundings in Gallatin," for whatever that's worth."

Hasn't grown and developed as the coaches expected?

Im a GHS alum and my cousin currently plays for Station Camp and is friends with most of the Wave football team and said it would take a miracle for him to get in to UT that and the offer from UT apparently isnt really on the table. Also he apparently since being at Gallatin has had numerous disciplinary issues...

Kid looked like he was progressing great as a soph at SCHS. Must have stopped when he moved or just topped out. Could be moving back to see if he can get it back or to give ETSU a look since they are taking quite a few local kids for the start up of their program.

I'll have to go watch him play since I just live a few mins away from SCHS now.

I watched them play South Doyle there in the playoffs this past season.. That Dolly Parton money has that place looking good.

I have been around the Sevier County program for a long time, Dorian is a great athlete, but will never be a running back at the next level, only position he could play IMO is corner. He is not very physical.

Some of these posts are pretty accurate. He has had some attitude issues. I'm from Gallatin and I am happy the young man is transferring back to Sevier County - not because we don't want him here (he is a great athlete), but he is in a toxic environment in Gallatin. His brother, Darian, is/was facing some very serious legal problems here in Sumner County. This has been an ongoing problem for the Green Wave. It seems that alot of the more talented athletes go down the wrong road after graduating. Hopefully, new surroundings will allow Dorian to improve his grades as well as his on-field performance.

As for the mom wanting him to play RB, I'm not sure about that one... But he isn't even the best RB on Gallatin's roster. Watch out for upcoming junior Jordan Mason the next couple of years.

Thanks. When does your establishment open? I'd really like to get down there and check your place out.

Were open now. Just going through the necessary steps for a name change, new licenses, paint, etc. Were open Wednesday through Saturday from 7-3.

Come on down. First beer is on me.

After seeing Dorian play twice against Springfield this past season, I didn't see him as a SEC runningback either. Suprised he had a SEC offer honestly. But those 2 games I saw Austin Peay/TSU type talent.

Some good athletes turn to the streets after graduation in Springfield too. Not all but some. Hate to see them choose that road.

Agreed Mason is a good RB and Redding is good as well. unfortunately some very true statements were made about the talented young men that come from Gallatin that turn to the streets and wind up in trouble with the law. Hopefully Dee and Jordan are different. But i agree Banks wasnt even 3rd string as a RB at GHS he had some ok games but not nearly to the calibur of a D1 athlete.

The Mountain Press in Sevierville had an article on him in the paper this morning. SCHS lose their top two RB's to graduation and they need a playmaker in the backfield and ST to go with their good QB, Deuce Wallace. The article did not offer much as to why other than that. He said he focused on D skills at Gallatin. I think he prefers to play offense in college by the way things appear. Will give him a chance to pair up with a QB that that has been offered by Northwestern and MTSU to showcase his offensive skill set.

Didn't make it to any of the Green Wave games this past season. I was looking forward to watching this kid play in the upcoming season. I hope it works out for him whether he ends up a Vol or not.
