I have always liked Dobbs...well before he even set foot on campus. His highlight reel showed a solid passing acumen but what endeared me to him most, was how elusive he was in the pocket.

In the Bama game, Worley would have gotten killed all game long, and like in the Ole Miss game, we would have had no offense to speak of. It was Dobbs elusiveness and QB savvy that kept us in that game, despite the fact that our defense couldn't cover Amari Cooper, and put us in a deep hole early.

If our OL steps up this year, and Dobbs can stay relatively healthy, I predict we will be back in the SEC Championship and will play in one of the bigger bowl games. Dobbs will probably graduate early and will be the no.1 QB in the draft, next year.

I say that because I don't see any other stellar draft candidates at QB

Dobbs cares more about his education. I don't think he leaves early.

These are my honest feelings about Dobbs..When you see him at his best..I feel like..WOW!..we are gonna kill everybody next year with just a little improvement in the OL play...When I go back and watch him at his worst...I think..wow..we are going to get killed by every good team next year...It's a very weird place I'm in. I believe the kid could end up being one of the greatest UT Qbs ever..or a flameout that sets the program back and gets Butch fired...that is just honesty. For the love of everything good and Orange in this world..Please let him become the legend..and not the goat.

Put on your orange glasses and toe the line. It feels really good. :) Man I really want him to kill it next year. The program needs it. The players need it. We, the fans, really need it .

lol no question some hard asses will want to give you a hard time for talking about Dobbs' inconsistencies. Truth is he has a ways to go and the chance to get a lot of national attention this year IF he plays smart football and shows more consistency. He played lights out vs a very bad USCjr D and was throwing the ball with a nice touch and was very consistent vs a lesser talented Kentucky game. Vs Vandy he was average - almost cost us our bowl eligibility when he came out deflated in that game - also played worse than the stats indicated. He showed some flashes in the Missouri game, but again very limited because of our personnel / his consistency with the deep ball. Our inability to throw the ball to downfield targets really limited us late last year and the added pressure from an already-weakened line on top of a defense playing smart, disciplined football is what really made us lose to Missouri last yr.

If he gets his ish together on field - lookout - Rocket Dobbs could do BIG things next season.

Yea some get very defensive when the obvious about Dobbs is brought up. He has a long way to go but that is a good thing because he has a very high ceiling. But if I am the only one who thinks this way, which one poster eluded to there wouldn't have been page after page of fans clamouring for us to go after Braxton Miller and how many said he would be an instant upgrade over Dobbs. Which I don't completely agree with. Braxton is a better athlete and runner but his passing at times was even less consistent than Dobbs. Some get their little thongs in a bunch but I am not knocking his ability at all. Just stating the obvious that any rational and football knowledgeable fan can see.

My thoughts exactly. At times it's one step forward then two steps back. We see one QB that looks like a Heisman Trophy candidate then against Mizzou and Vandy he looked Crompton his JR year before Kiffin turned him into a productive QB. If he can't play well against the better teams then looking good against bad defenses doesn't do much for him. It's almost like when things are going good around him then he plays well like he did against UK, SCe and Iowa. But when things break down and go back around him he doesn't elevate his game and show the leadership he should as a QB.

We came back against USC, I am not saying doesn't have things to work on as no doubt he does. The good thing is he has a great work out ethic, and no matter what without Dobbs we would not have went to a bowl. I am glad he got the experience last season, it will only help he as the team around him improves also. GO BIG ORANGE!!!

I completely disagree. During the the SCe game I saw leadership that hasn't been on the hill in many years. Everyone has a bad game especially a sophomore QB who was expecting to redshirt all season. Dobbs is special. He can improve on his passing, yes, but I think his deficiencies are highly overblown.

Man, are you sure Dobbs is the reason we got to a bowl game? A poster a page or 2 ago says he's the reason we almost didn't make it.

He is without question the reason that we made it to a bowl game. If someone cannot see that, then they are blind.

Couldn't agree more. He gave us a chance vs Bama and was THE ONLY reason why we finished 6-6 and got to a bowl. We were 3-5 when he became the starter. We finished 4-1 with him at QB. we're doing neither with Worley or Peterman last year behind what was inarguably the worst OL in the country.

If guys want to correctly constructively criticize Josh by saying he needs to improve his accuracy and ability to read a defense (as I assume most sophomore qbs who were thrown into the fire midseason vs Bama each of the last 2 seasons after expecting to redshirt would) then fine...that's legit imo.

Where I get my hackles up is reading about his lack of leadership or "he can't hit the broad side of a barn" or he cost us the Missouri game or he's as bad as Crompton was, etc....all that crap is anti-Dobbs unfounded BS.

That and TK Jr's interception in the Vandy game that snuffed out a potential score and momentum. That was a hell of a play!

TKJr's great int would've meant nothing to our bowl chances had Dobbs not done what he did vs SCar to win that game. Not to take anything away from TKJr....it was a phenomenal play.

Per VQ, UT is trending in the right direction and the timing is in the Vols' favor. His visit this weekend is crucial. He'll arrive Sunday evening and stay throughout Monday.

His parents pretty much love Butch. His father and Butch have a great relationship. Sounds like Debord just has to close his end of the deal. This will be Jarrett's 3rd visit.

Well, you know the sports media guys seem to think Dobbs is not smart enough to be a college QB. They say when he talks about his school classes that it's just a bunch of jibberish that none of them understands so that would indicate he can't be smart. One of the media guys said he just walked off when Josh was talking because he had no clue what he was talking about.
:)
