'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

Yes they did.... I was referring to the Clyde remark. As if the two programs are similar and had one terrible coach drag them down that they want to forget about. Kentucky is either bad or worse, always have been and always will be. We are a traditional power that everyone knows will return sooner or later.

The comparison......

TN: "We fell from a skyscraper. The fall itself was a horrendous thing. The splat as we hit rock bottom was a thing nightmares are made of".

KY: "Yes Vol fans, we know exactly where you are coming from. We fell off the bottom rung of a ladder once".

It's really no where near the same thing.

Both coaches took teams and ran them into the group. obviously there is a different level of failure with the difference in programs. But it still threw both fan bases into frustration.

Powers come and go. UT was lucky enough to have some great coaches long ago, and set a precedent for a football program. UK has never had sustained success at football. Every program has to start somewhere. Whether it's uk, ut, etc etc.

Same applies in basketball. Vols have never been a powerhouse, uk always has been. But vols are moving in right direction imo.

Eh, our fall was hard too. I guess not as shocking as UT's, but still it was very hard to see a team with promise regress year after year back into obscurity.

my first thought as well. He does look exactly like him.

Don't you have to be up to fall..? And I'm not being a smart ass but I don't ever remember anything but mediocrity at best from KY.

Well, there was this one year that UK made the Music City Bowl, and then.......

Well, that was about it.

He's talking about basketball

If KY Basketball made as much money as UT football, it might be a valid arguement. Fact of the matter is though, as good as KY Basketball is/has been, the crappy football team still makes more money for them.

From a fan point of view though, I guess it's a legit arguement. As a fan, of whatever sport, it's hard to see your team fall.

I only remember mediocrity at best from UK football as well. I think y'all get ur hopes up too much at slightest sign of improvement. Do you see how hard it is for AL, AU, UT, FL, etc. to maintain winning year in and year out? It's just never gonna happen at UK. If it does, it's a fluke and won't be sustained. I would make the same argument in b- ball. A UT b-ball collapse is not the same as a UK b- ball collapse. However, our basketball has made it to number one before, been ranked many times, many tourney apperances and wins over past 20 years. Could you imagine what you would expect if your football team had anywhere near that type of success?

Brings back tough memories of 2007.

Many tourney appearances? Take out the last 10 years and it's a stretch. I'd call UT being ranked number one in basketball a bigger fluke then UK football winning 6 games a year. We've already proven we can do it. Now we have a lot more talent and hopefully a better coach.

Aside from that, it's a football conference, never will be basketball conference. For UT basketball to be improving a lot isn't shocking. UT has a good source of talent, and with the right coach they can go far. UK has terrible instate talent for football, and we're in the toughest conference with the best recruiting teams. For UK to make it 4 or 5 straight bowl games is mediocre by most standards, but very impressive from what we usually are and situation we're placed in.

I'll stop derailing the thread. Wasn't trying to detract from excitement of a huge commitment. Felt it was okay to respond to a few comments but no point in continuing a discussion I've had many times before on VN.

Thanks. And congrats again. Don't tell the other UK fans i've said this but I'm gonna be really scared of UT as long as Butch is there.

Lol,10 years is a long time....Could you imagine your lofty expectations if UK football was even remotely relevant for 10 years? Come back when you're good in football for 6-10 years and we can talk. Anyway, you proved my point... 5 to 7 wins for you is an upswing, it's dead bottom for us. That's why it's not the same. Falling from 6 wins back to 3 ain't sh!t.... However, I agree on derailing this thread. I'm done, you still don't get it, it's cool.

Brooks overachieved for about 3 years. I have faith it can happen again. The one glaring thing he never did was beat Ut, which was embarrassing. That's the only thing joker ever did that was good as a HC.

Here's your*. D*O*O*L*E* Y*. Joker beat a Dooley coached team. Does that even count?

You're not derailing a thread any worse than we do ourselves. You keep on posting. You've been on here long enough to know you're gonna catch hell. You haven't quit to tthis point. Now is not the time to start. :hi:
