'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

Sawyers: failed drug tests
Henderson: ncaa grades issue
Paulk: allegations of violence against a female

You cannot blame CBJ for those.

Also, Helm, Hendrix and Wharton were not told to leave. They apparently bailed because they were not the guy at their position. They were outworked by other freshmen.

Just curious, if the first three were still on the team what would your stance be?

I can't quote Leb Vol since he is on ignore but what I wonder is what will his stance be when UT is a top 10 program and winning again? I don't want him basking in any glory as long as this coaching staff is still here after his constant bashing of them. It is ok to bash them if you wish but don't celebrate with them later.

You can't NOT recruit talented kids for fear of losing other talented recruits. LWS post about attrition shows that if you sign one elite guy at each spot and then fill out the rest of the class with 3 star depth, then you are recruiting scared. It's more of a gamble to place all your chips on a few elite guys that may or may not stick after signing day than to worry about scaring them off before signing day b/c your brining in more competition. Butch Jones apparently does not recruit scared and UT fans are not used to that. Most of us like to see it, some like Leb apparently can't handle it.

After a childhood spent on a dairy farm I can confirm that the cream really does rise to the top.

Recruit the best of the best to be Vols and they can slug it out during practice for starting spots. May the best man win.

It may not be all lollipops and rainbows during the recruiting process but it seems to be working well for former Keebler elf Nicky Satan and the distinguished University of Alabubba.

I have no problem taking for quarterbacks a year as long as you tell all four you are taking four because some won't make it and some week transfer. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't care how many a coach takes. Just be upfront and let the kids know up front what you plan to do so they week know what they are facing when they make their decision.

What's wrong with that?

The wrong in it is your baseless assumption that conversations never occurred with these kids. Its the assumption that these kids aren't told ,at any point during their process, about what to expect. Not only are you discrediting the coaching staff but you are discrediting the intelligence of these kids by assuming they don't know the trade.

It is pretty analogous of real life and the job market. Are you still in college by any chance?

I'm not assuming! I've said numerous times, they were told when it was too late for them to change. The other schools that recruited them had filled their spots.

It's hard to tell what goes on behind the scenes and what is said in communications with recruits. But who's to say coaches don't tell a Kendall, "Hey, you are our guy and the only one we'll take but this is the real world and stuff happens. You could decide to go to UK with your bro or maybe some of or all the QBs we took last class my not pan out. So we're going to keep recruiting guys for insurance purposes so we don't go all Kendall or bust, just to end up bust. Now, you quit visiting UK and quit taking calls from any other programs and start recruiting hard for us and we'll back off some of these guys."

Butch Jones can't afford to put all his eggs in one basket, and I don't think he will. I believe some UT coaches have done this a couple times in the past, and it came back to bite them.

Where's your proof they were told? Do you have recordings of the conversations?

Besides, it's well known that lying is just part of it. Ask some of your fellow experts on here.

I think there's proof in the fact that Jennings and Dormady are still here and there have been no quotes from them saying they've been lied to or deceived and are unhappy with how the staff handled it.

Their quotes have indicated that they're ready to compete.

How about we talk about Kendall and all the things he does well. Then if he decides to go elsewhere we talk about the reasons why. As of now none of this matters bc whether we have 8 QBs or 4 he is still committed. Also kids who want to be here will be here and those that don't o we'll.

Like the Ferguson quotes that he felt the coaches were not honest with him?

Not much the 2EEs could do about it anyway this year. They were locked in when Jones "all a sudden" wanted to be a Vol. Both WERE quoted during the process saying Butch told them he was only taking THEM at QB in 2015. Those quotes were posted many times in numerous threads.

Kendall says he was told he is "UTs guy in 2016" and that they are only taking 1 in 2016. Fort is then quoted as saying Austin is "looking around" and cites UTs recent QB recruiting as a reason why.

If you keep giving people a reason to question what you say, things will catch up to you. Obviously the other recent QB offers don't help here. Jmo

How is he not the typical walk on? He had walk on offers from Wake Forest with MTSU showing "interest". He had zero scholarship offers. The only reason he is even on the team is because of his dad.

It's just my guess (I think this has already been mentioned) but I believe he is part of a coaching tree. It is like those that questioned why Tyler Summitt was on UT's men's team. Leave the coaches son alone, he knows what he's doing.

The way I took the Fortenberry statement was the concern Kendall has for "UTs recent QB recruiting" refers to them taking 3 QB's in the '15 class. This has nothing to do with them telling him he's the one and only in '16.

Still little proof of dishonesty on Jones's part.

As far as S. Jones coming on board after the others were locked in, if every UT fan with an Internet connection knew that was a possibility ahead of time, then certainly these recruits did too.

And who's to say the new QB offers don't have more to do with Kendall still taking calls from UK and others rather than vice versa.

Do you really think any kid that is locked in is going to publicly say such?
