It's Auburn or UT, UGA is out of this one.

1. Richt getting fired was a huge blow for the DB recruitment, his family loved Richt.

2. Kirby Smart and UGA's staff didn't even call DB for over a week when hired and called many of UGA's other targets and all of the commitments they wanted to keep.

From Auburn Rivals -

Derrick Brown is arguably one of the most important targets left on Auburn's big board, and he felt like a top priority during his official visit to the Plains.

"Coming down here you always get the family atmosphere," Brown told AuburnSports.com. "Some people say that about their school, but you can't really tell that. Definitely coming down here you get that feeling."

The Rivals100 defensive tackle was able to spend much-needed quality time with the new coaching staff including defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.

"He seems like the type that can play defense," he said. "I got to sit and talk x's and o's with him and that was good."

Academics is a big factor for Brown. Before his official visit to Auburn, he was most impressed with Tennessee and Georgia's business programs. Now, the Tigers are right there with them.

"It was big for me yesterday getting to go talk with the business side (school)," he said. "I got to talk a little bit briefly in the spring, but they explained the whole nine-yards with me yesterday. We got to see everything."

The Sugar Hill, Ga., prospect doesn't plan on making a final decision until National Signing Day between Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia and Tennessee. He will visit Athens and Knoxville over the next two weeks on official visits.

"I just got to find a place that's home for me," he said. "Once I find it, from there on we will go."

Brown wouldn't give much away about where things stand, and he doesn't plan on discussing the recruitment process with anyone else besides his parents.

"That's the only people that I'm going to talk to about it," he said. "If it's not coming from me or my parents, I wouldn't believe it."

Brown is ranked as the No. 25 overall player and No. 3 defensive tackle in the country.

Meh...didn't sound too impressed by that visit.

The visit did not impress from what I hear. They rolled out the carpet for him and tried to sell him on being the next great at Auburn. He just did not click with the others that is what I have heard also. I think we lock this one down on the 29th.

I'd be letdown comparing Muschamp to Steele as well. Major downgrade in coaching. While at TN we upgraded.

As a student athlete I would be looking for a proven coach.
No doubt Smart is a good DC, but how many times has a good Coordinator failed as a coach?
Butch has a proven track record and is gaining steam. Being coached by a proven coordinator like Shoop, why the heck wouldn't he?
Just is an unnecessary gamble with his talent.

I truly believe Brown will be a Vol on NSD but for some reason, Auburn still worries me here.

Didn't his mom schedule his visit for the 29th? That's all you need to know. Vol
