1. Permanent rival to UGA. A win against UGA helps us.
2. Proximity to UGA affects UGA recruiting when they are strong. A weaker UGA helps us.
3. We play them less often now, so the old rivalry has less modern relevance
4. Play Bama annually and despise them as much as we do.

then i suggest you spend some time in the state of Alabama. actually on second thought, no I don't. screw that place. for most Bama fans their hate of Auburn far exceeds their hate for UT. (at least amongst my family that is the case). imagine the same hate we have for Bama but also having to share the state and be little brother for them. the auburn bama hate is the real deal.
