People get too caught up in numbers sometimes. The team we hung half a hundred on 4 days ago has some pretty good defensive stats as well.

Use your eyes and your brains. Stats don't tell the truth.

Exactly. My eyes showed TN, Bama and Florida dominate UGA. Everyone shut down the teams that UGA did

Thank you. Can't believe some are looking at UGA's defensive numbers when they played Vandy, UF, Mizzou, Southern, Georgia Southern, and GTech. Those teams are either bad on offense or don't throw the ball. That doesn't even include UK, Auburn, and Louisiana Monroe.

I guarantee you the consensus on this board a week ago would have been that their D stunk.

Pruitt having his players tweet out that statistical graphic with the #KeepPruitt hashtag was genius.

I mean it reeks of Kiffin/Orgeron tactics but it has worked.

A week ago he was about to fall on the axe and now he's the hottest thing ever.

Funny how when you dig just a little deeper below the surface the truth can be found. Good post.

UGA overall defense: 8th overall
UT overall defense: 46th overall

UGA pass D: 1st overall
UT pass D: 57th overall

UGA Rush D: 48th overall
UT Rush D: 49th overall

UGA redzone D: UGA 2nd overall
UT redzone D: 24th overall

Sounds like an upgrade

Women Lie , Men Lie ... NUMBERS DONT LIE !

So I guess you'll say he played cupcakes at FSU too which skewed his numbers? Where does a guy have to coach and does he have to face 4 OOC opponents all ranked in the top 10 before he's considered successful?

Common opponents:
UGA: 299 ypg
UT: 329 ypg

Scoring
UGA: 18ppg
UT: 21ppg

No one's labeling Pruitt a top 5 DC at this point in his career but to act like he's a scrub is disingenuous. He's being considered as Durkin's replacement at Michigan. That would mean he will have been employed by 4 of the top 20 programs of all time. That doesn't happen if you're not good at your job.

That's why I'm not a fan.

Jeremy Pruitt is a complete and utter Ahole IMHO but some of the statements on here are completely ridiculous. The guy is a great defensive coordinator. He wouldn't have the jobs he has had over the past few years and have multiple opportunities to coach at top tier programs right now if he were some bum. Add to that the guy is a great recruiter as well. Now I would rather stick with Jancek or look somewhere else because I don't care for the guy as a person but to say he's not a great DC is not true.

He's been a DC for two years. Sorry if I don't buy the hype. The guy reminds me of Kiffin so much.

Fair enough but statistically the teams he has coached for have improved defensively every year he's there. I won't argue with the guy being a malcontent douche though.

Two at UGA, one at FSU.

Well, we put 38 on them, most in the last 33 minutes of the game. Ga's defense against good offenses was not so great. Leave him alone and let him go somewhere that we get to play against him.

It doesn't matter if he is Ditka. You would have to switch defensive schemes and that would be asinine at this point. Jancek is doing a fine job.

My bad. Forgot he was at Georgia in 2014 as well. He's still only been DC for 3 years.

I'm just not sold on him being a great DC. Seems like a great recruiter but also a headache as a staff member.

And how many points did offenses put on our defense in the second half of games?

I never said he was a scrub. Associating me with words I never stated. Just said that the numbers are not what they appear to be. As Vols4us stated, you have to dig to see why things are the way they are. He had NFL talent at FSU, and that's what you are supposed to do- recruit well and coach them up (although he didn't recruit the players). Good for him, but some are just gushing about the guy. There are other ones that can do the job.

If Pruitt goes to Mich, I think it will be harder for Mecole to follow.... geography and the family may come into play here....

Did you see me say I wanted Pruitt? I argued he's a solid DC and not the overrated bum so many on here portray him to be. I wouldn't kick Janceck to the curb for him at this point because of the scheme switch and continuity. But if you can land Pruitt on your staff in any other capacity, notably DB coach, you'd be a fool to not bring him on.
