'16 FL WR Brandon Johnson (UT commit 9/2/15)

I bet there are a lot of disappointed people wringing their hands on the UGA boards tonight. They really wanted this kid.

Love these unexpected surprise recruits! Seems like we grabbed Darrell Taylor unexpectedly about this time last year. We definitely need more WRs, too. We're loaded now, but a lot of our guys are good enough to go to the NFL after 3 years (Josh Malone, P-Williams, Marquez North), so we have to keep re-stocking.

247 only has him as 3 stars, but his offer sheet certainly looks more like a 4 star recruit: UGA, LSU, Ole Miss, Miami, Arkansas, Clemson, South Carolina, Miss State, and Wisconsin. Definitely like that both Clemson and South Carolina were after him because Spurrier and Dabo Sweeney both seem to have an eye for WR talent.

This kid looks a bit thin right now, but he'll fill out in the coming years, and put on some muscle in the S&C program.

If the worst we do is land a 4 star 6'3" wr with no offers from the Florida schools we'll be aight.

Guys that have produced in HS haven't always lit it up as freshman. Bring him in RS and coach him up.

Florida isn't exactly a model for WRs so I wouldn't care if they offered or not. I do like to see the Clemson, LSU, UGA, TN offers all staffs that know WRs

Just for those of you who are not sure of this commitment.

Lol
Dooley diamond in the rough: Alan Carson, Raiques Crump, and Greg Clark.

Butch diamond in the rough: 4* who dunks a basketball between his legs.

It's good to be back.

"When you see him, in person, the first thing you notice is his build. He's probably 6-1, 6-2 and he's a muscled-up kid with a lot of upper body strength. He's not as long or tall as others, but he's got some thickness and a good build for the college level. While he's not going to blow you away with his athleticism, he's a solid athlete and with his build he's able to out-muscle defensive backs. He's a threat in the red zone because of his ability. He's adept at high pointing it's not because he has the greatest vertical, he just has great instincts in the end zone and can go up and get it. He's also very versatile. Does so many things so solidly that he can help in many different ways."

The first thing I like about Johnson is that he just seems very smooth on film. He has a great pair of hands and while his athleticism isn't off the charts, he just seems very solid. He can make catches over the top, he can make them in the middle of the field in traffic, he just does a lot of things well.

He reminds me of Kevin Norwood from Alabama a few years ago. Just a very solid playmaker in the midst of a nice receiving corps. Johnson should be able to provide Tennessee with more depth at the wide receiver position and with a good work ethic it's easy to see him meshing with wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni.

Johnson also adds another receiver that's around 6-foot-2, as the Vols continue to get taller and bigger at that position. (Read Brent's story about that here.)

With Jauan Jennings, Preston Williams, Josh Malone and Jeff George all expected around several more years, it's another strong pickup that fits a need for Tennessee.

Tweet says "finally"?

Looks like he's wanted to commit and staff asked him to hold off or wouldn't take his commitment until now.

Kid has some moves. Looks rail thin but still young and time to grow.

Have to agree with sanddune on this one...with the quality WR prospects we are still seemingly in on this commitment is a bit lackluster.

Really good player at a powerhouse school with future 5 stars on the roster.

I don't think we get Davis or Mecole tbh.

Maybe he is just glad that the process is over.
