Corey Bender: Dynamic South Fort Myers WR Willie Johnson names #Tennessee No. 1, sets official visit
Football Recruiting - 2016 Prospect Rankings, Team Commit Rankings, Analysis - Scout Front Page …

"I bring it all to the table with the speed and skills, and I ran a 4.31 (40-yard dash) at Florida State's camp over the summer. I know how to read defenses and pick them apart."

In fact, Johnson says Butch Jones and the Volunteers now hold the advantage in his recruitment. In addition to the SEC program, Johnson possesses scholarship offers from Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss and South Florida among others.

"Tennessee, I go up there for the (official) visit on Dec. 5," Johnson said. "I like everything about them so far. They keep in touch with me everyday and I talk to them all the time. They want me to get the grades up and focus on that, and then they'll get me up Dec. 5 for the visit."

I hope we get this kid and Velus. I'd be extremely happy if we landed Mecole but if we can't get him these 2 would make up for it. Jmo.

My boy coaches at Dunbar so I'll get some Intel for VN.

How's Dunbar these days? Always had some of the best athletes in SWFL in my HS days but lacked discipline and football IQ. Got by on pure athleticism until they faced a well coached team. We played them when the school had just reopened and were nothing but FR and SO. They took us behind the woodshed which worked out well for me. I got in the entire 4th QT lol.

I'm purely speculating but there seems to be an indication that his grades aren't up to snuff and so he may be a candidate for eligibility issues. He also may be a little raw but an electric athlete. I have wondered if he is JUCO bound, which could explain the ranking since the sites usually consider eligibility when determining whether to invest a lot of time in scouting a player.

"Get the grades up"... Not sure I like the sound of that.

My boy said he's one of the top 5-7 players to come out that area since he been coaching there(2004)...Said he's as explosive as Sammy Watkins. Maybe quicker and better hands. Has had some off the field stuff
and classroom issues. Believe he's a 3 and done player.

Risk worth the reward?

The speedy South Florida standout has quickly emerged as someone Tennessee would like to add to its class of 2016, mainly because of that speed. He's been an offensive specialist for Fort Myers High School for the last few years and it seems a big reason the Vols have targeted him now. North Carolina and Tennessee seem to be the two schools battling it out for him at the moment.

I think this guy or Johnson is your Henderson replacement.

I don't think either affects Jones, though.
