'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

The coaches closed extremely strong in this class IMO. I think this will be one of those classes that will be much stronger in hindsight than it appears initially. What many of the stargazers don't realize is the level of speed and athleticism that we are adding with this class to what we already have on campus. We upgraded our secondary to another level. We added 3 of the absolute best DB's in the country in this class and another that will be playing WR starting out that could possibly move back to defense. Something that is not to be overlooked is how these guys translate into what our new defensive coordinator will be able to do with this level of athlete. We also added a sleeper at WR that may immediately be the fastest player on our team. This is something the offense has been missing. Williams and CFA immediately give us the big play potential that you see in the Oregon and Baylor type offenses. We also added a QB with future Heisman type potential. I'm very happy with what we added today.

It's really about #'s Bruin. Our avg. star rating is right on par with our previous classes. We won't sign 30 players, therefore our ranking won't be as high. There are a lot of difference makers and depth builders in this class.

This. With the number of spots we had available, if Kongbo jumps on board its an A-. And if daddy gets his way and he don't its a solid B. Imo

LOL ok man you keep believing that. Everyone else is paying players just not us. The only thing the ncaa investigation caught them on was stuff with Tunsil which is a slap on the wrist.

I'm a huge tn fan, always have been always will be, but I've seen him recruit my players first hand and even I walk away thinking that he's a very convincing recruiter. On top of that he is one hell of a football coach who knows how to win.

Hmmm....

So....not trying to stoke the fire on any rumors, but didn't someone in here say that one of our coaches called Kongbo Sr a bastard? I can't find anything else to support that but in all honesty I would probably pressure my kid to go elsewhere under those circumstances. An ambassador of UT should know better. However if Tennessee is what Kongbo wants he will find a way regardless Imo

Is it a violation for a coach to fly to Canada with a brief case full of cash, have coffee with the parents of a recruit, say goodbye and accidentally forget his briefcase?

Freeze probably forgot his Rolex and big diamond pinky ring in the bathroom after washing his hands and lost a wallet between the couch cushions. If you don't remember where you lost them and they're not returned, what can ya do?

as someone who grew up in the great state of Mississippi, you can kiss my a$$. talk about ignorant.... stfu.

People need to get out more. I live on the TN/MS border. North MS, Corinth, Tupelo, Oxford and others are all great places to live. Some of the fastest growing towns in America. Can't speak for the rest buy North MS is great.

No, last year Thigpen muttered that a recruits mother was being a b!tch but I haven't heard anything like this. And honestly, imo, if I were being an ******* dad and demanding my son go to another school because I like it better I wouldn't have a problem with a coach saying that because it is the probably the truth.

C is a little harsh imo. This class is solid. Depth at DT and DE would have been nice, but missing out on Brown and maybe Kongbo doesn't make this class horrible. Too many people make their judgements on who we didn't get.

I think we knocked it out of the park in the secondary and at QB and added some very solid players at OL, WR, RB, and LB.

D-line, however, is a legitimate concern with this class. It looks like we won't be getting a single high school D-lineman. That's a problem. We're loaded for the next couple of years, so it won't matter much at all in 2016 or even in 2017. After the 2017 season though we will be losing Vickers, Johnson, and Mixon to graduation. Also, the huge class from last year becomes draft eligible. Tuttle, McKenzie, Phillips, Taylor, etc. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 3 of those guys turn pro after the 2017 season, meaning we could lose as many as 6 major contributors in one year. We may be able to recover somewhat by signing a special group next year, but the heat is on now. And even with a big haul in 2017 there is a very good chance we'll be back to depending on underclassmen and unproven jucos to take lots of meaningful reps in 2018.

The good news in this is that we're now recruiting for 2-3 years down the road rather than to fill immediate needs. The bad news is that missing out on HS D-linemen this year could put us back at square one with major needs on the D-line down the road.

It was a JOKE...piggybacking on the rumor that Thig called Van Jefferson's Mom a female dog last year.
