USC poster claiming Kongbo never decommitted from us. Said Saban allegedly called Kongbo out about it and changed his OV date. Then Kongbo backed out of OV all together. Claims it was orchestrated by CBJ. Also upset that CBJ found out what kind of ice cream Kongbo likes, which apparently sealed the deal. TIFWIWESPNHATESUSRUNDMCBOATSANDHOS

Kongbo

Sounds like Kongbo has played almost every staff in America. This decommitment never really happened. From the sound of things, he's been instructed to tell every staff he visits he's coming. This is to insure that that staff holds a spot open for him and then they end up with no player or a sh!tty one.

It seems that only Nick Saban was able to see through the bullsh!t. He was tipped off by another coach that this was happening and then moved his visit to the following week. Kongbo then canceled the visit all together.

Butch Jones has pulled some serious strings with this one and the NCAA should start looking into his program. If he's willing to do this, what else is he capable of? I'm sure there's a lot of stuff being covered up in Knoxville. That maybe the dirtiest staff in America.

I absolutely LOVE this. F-E-A-R has returned!

Yeah, I remember a rumor that he supposedly told Peyton on the field after we put a beatdown on them in Neyland that he was going to transfer here. I think Peyton was a senior and Couch was a freshman ATP IIRC. I don't remember where the rumor came from though or if it was ever substantiated.

Couch would have been a sophomore when Peyton was a senior I believe. He left early and was drafted #1 overall in 1999 draft.

It may have been when Peyton was a JR and Couch a FR though. Bill Curry was fired in the middle of his freshman season. That could have prompted a legitimate reason for transfer.

The juxtaposition of this thread next to Derrick Brown's is what the kids call irony.

"USC is pathetic saying the only time they don't get recruits is because of money!"

"You know if he goes to the barn someone got paid"
Objectively speaking, the NCAA did some degree of investigation into the payoff of Cam Newton. Money got funneled through his Church Pastor. So, there was some substance to the claims that Auburn is dirty...NCAA just decided not to put the hammer down that year, for some strange reason.

Same thing with the UNC academic scandal.

Wasn't that pastor his dad?

That and the fact that they would be so low down as to come after our HC only one year into his rebuilding efforts. I never did like the Kiffin hire (by Mike Hamilton). I wanted Gary Patterson, Wittingham or Brian Kelly....but that's a different matter for a different discussion.

He still had us going in the right direction...one field goal away from beating Bama in Tuscaloosa. It's pretty slimy in my book, going after another program's coach after just one season. It puts that program back into even more turmoil. They didn't care if they blew our program up, and it came back to bite them...cause theirs blew up in a few years time.

I think there could be some validity to Kongbo never truly decommitting. He told us as much awhile back when he said he really only decommitted because his parents didn't want him taking other visits while being committed somewhere else. Sounds like maybe he wanted to take his other visits and have fun, but knew deep down he was going to have to be blown away to commit anywhere that wasn't Tennessee.

Butch kept recruiting him like he did decommit though, which is smart. And maybe nobody else could top what Tennessee has to offer in his eyes. Butch gets what seems like a last minute commit near signing day, which makes him look good. Kongbo gets to take his visits and enjoy his process. The only folks that get screwed in this whole deal are the other schools. Because most likely they didn't have a shot. But you never know. They might have, if they actually had something better to offer him. Which it doesn't sound like they did. Kongbo showed up though, and did his part. They had their chance to change his mind and sounds like they couldn't do it.

We'll see though. Hopefully he just commits to us. That's what I'm thinking happens, but so much keeps changing.

In the end all of this doesn't matter to a hill of beans, the coaches didn't put him up to nothing like usc said, anybody can hurl accusations. This is nothing more than butthurt over not getting him. This happens a lot, decommits or commits mean nothing till signing day. That's why Butch kept recruiting not only Kongo but other possibilities. What a few poster over on usc boards posting was insinuating Jones and staff did that, well get the proof find the proof or it means nothing. At USC talk is cheap when the story makes you feel better. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

It's just stupid talk on that one poster's part. Who gives a flip what one of their posters has to say? It's pure silliness to suggest that any coach puts a recruit up to such shenanigans. What do we care if USC loses a spot or not, in their class? We don't. Bama, maybe...cause we play them every year. Even then, that's silly talk.

Would you want to be lead prosecutor of a poor AA Church b/c they have a kid who can play football?
