15th D of 16 in SEC

Somebody throw some more cash at McCoy and get him out there. Wrap that knee up tight and give him a few injections. Should be good to go

Tennessee's offense scores so quick and isn't on the field very long at all, so the opposing offenses get a lot more snaps against our D when compared to other teams. Just something to keep in mind.
Yeah and that is where having as much depth as possible helps this situation. The 2022 D got gassed a lot in 2nd half because of it. Hope this D fares better.

YPG just isn’t going to be a good measure of whether this defense is good or not. If we’re up big we’re going to give up yardage. Turnovers and points given up will tell us whether we’re good or back.

I didn't say cupcake, I said a likely first round home game like we SHOULDVE gotten vs SMU last season.

Miami isn't that good, Florida just sucks. the ACC likely won't have 2 playoff teams unless Miami/FSU loser wins 11 games

The possible realistic playoff team candidates right now:

SEC
Georgia, LSU, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri

Big Ten
Oregon, Ohio St, Penn St, USC, Indiana, Washington

Big 12
Texas Tech, Iowa St, Utah, Arizona State

ACC
Miami, Florida St, Ga Tech

G5
Memphis, Tulane, Navy, Rice, North Texas, UNLV, Fresno St

Honestly SEC is SEC and of course UGA team i would "fear" and we just showed we can beat them

Oregon, OSU and USC have great offenses so where we play and our depth matters here

No one else is worrisome, we can beat them all
The ship has sailed for beating GA. We had our chance. Every year they get stronger. We had them at our place with the chance to win and Heup flushed it down the commode. I don’t like our odds at a neutral site when they’ve figured it out.

And I really do think you’re underselling Miami. They’ve looked pretty good, not only against Florida. And you say Fl just sucks. And I agree they aren’t great. But I bet we don’t put a thumping on them when we visit down the road.

Someone will have our offense figured out at least once this year, so I hope the defense shows up that day.

Why does Martinez think anyone can defend a pass without seeing a pass? We need more DB transfers from Oregon.

Georgia & Syracuse are very good offensive teams. Plus Banks plays a lot of young guys during games which I support.

Nobody gets trophies over statistics

Nobody likes bad news. Defense wins championships.
I'm going to say that if the O can play like it did against UGA who probably has the best D in the SEC and one of the best in the country... it will cover a LOT of defensive sins. And that's not to say that the D doesn't need to play a lot better starting with the guy who isn't matching up well in playcalling against good OCs.

Makes you think that last years D wouldn't have been historic with this offense.

I think the stats might be somewhat askew since we've only had one quality opponent. That means our bench has had a lot of playing time. The game stats against Syracuse are probably closer to how we'll average.

Yes this is correct. A better metric would be yards per play where we are ranked 10th (4.9ypp) so more middle of the pack.
