Offense has to play near perfect next week to win. No turnovers, will need points on most possessions. Tough to do in the land of cowbells.
Very similar to ‘22. However we HOPEFULLY have 2 starting DL and 1 starting CB coming back to help.
I think a lot of our success on D will come down to McCoy returning. The rumors are he may not come back and just prepare for the NFL, but AP mentioned he would be interested if we have something to play for, which we do currently.
If we can take care of business and win out until Bama then I’m hoping we get to see him in orange the rest of the year from there.
And there it is…We will have both starting DTackles back next week in Moe and Hobbs. Tyre West will be back also at SDE which means Dom Bailey can also rotate at Dtackle again as well as Nate Robinson. They wont run the ball on us IMO. That crap is over with our Dline back at full strength. They cannot beat us being 1 dimensional unless we just totally crap the bed on offense and unlike with Nico, that just isnt gonna happen with Joey Upgrade at QB and our running game.
I disagree. There were some wide open receivers in the 2d and 3d quarters when our starters were in. And there wasn’t a defender within 5 yards of the receiver. It looked more like our guys were out of position than they were getting beat. From where I sat, it was clear their receivers were beyond wide open.I’d say Syracuse and UGA put up legit yards on us but UAB got yards against the scrubs and same with ETSU
Also, last year Josh didn't trust Nico so they ran the clock a lot on offense more than his usual mode of operation. This helped stats for an already great D which carried the team along with D Sampson..I'd like to point out that not many teams have played a team as tough as UGA and I'd also like to know how many yards are in garbage time when the game is over.
My only prediction is that I think it will come down to the final possession of the game (or OT). Either the O or D will have to make a play to win it. I think this will be a common occurrence in SEC games this season. What's a blow out to you? We win by 3 tds. Syracuse is as good or better than them.
No, our defense Can't Get Off the field on 3rd or 4th down. That's the problem. Please stop making excuses for them.Tennessee's offense scores so quick and isn't on the field very long at all, so the opposing offenses get a lot more snaps against our D when compared to other teams. Just something to keep in mind.
SEC has 451 players in the NFLHopefully getting Moi and Hobbs back will help, but I've been saying since Syracuse that we look undersized and porous on the D-Line.
What concerns me about Mississippi State, is no matter how bad or good they are, they are always huge and physical on the LOS and those guys end up having good careers in the NFL. It's interesting to me that a program that has never won anything of note, can still find those guys, and yet for us we've never been able to consistently field NFL talent on the D-Line.
