I don't really know what went down but the rumor was that Fulmer was willing to pay Cut more $ to keep him around but Chavis raised hell and the rest is history.
We would have saved a lot of money had we let Fulmer continue. No telling where we would be today, but I bet we would be no worse off nor would we have had the Kiffin/Dooley/Butch let downs. I would much rather have spent the last 10 years with a guy who I know loves UT more than I do at the helm. Butch, especially, acts like he is a VFL and by all accounts can't wait to get out of here once the heat became real. Screw that and screw him. Some of us have been VFL's since the 70's and 80's. It is our university, our program and if they don't like what the alumni/fans/media has to say about it then don't let the door hit ya! Four million a year for mediocrity is not what I donate for. 2 and 2 against Vandy. Hell, I'd take Phil now compared to that. Guarantee you he wouldn't go 2-2 against Vandy or 0-4 against Bama.
I really don't understand the thought process of the people still espousing Fulmer's record and whining about Jones record. I hope you're smart enough (though I doubt it) to realize that Fulmer's record for his last 4 years was 29-21 after having 12 years to build the program. Jones record after 4 years is 29-21 (with a bowl game to go) while rebuilding the program practically from scratch.
Get real people. We are still climbing out of a very deep hole and I for one appreciate the efforts of the young men that have done that for us.
