I just wanted to pop in and remind everyone (in case anyone was unaware) that we just we landed the best player in this class. Great time to be a vol.

Yes we did. I was truly impressed when he played in the state championship last year. He's truly special.

Just watched Khalil's junior highlights. He is going up against great competition in California and is simply throwing guys around. It is even comical when he's double teamed. His pursuit and speed stand out as well.

Folks, we have a game changer at tackle. If we get Tuttle as well, we will be back to not allowing a 100 yard rusher in a season again. Heck, we may not even allow 100 yards on the ground to anyone.

Positivity flows big-time with this addition.

So who else is he recruiting? I saw where he said guys were on the wall waiting on his committment, and now he is trying to bring them to the Hill :loco:

The 6-foot-4, 341-pound McKenzie said he’s using a couple of different sales pitches in recruiting other players to join him at Tennessee.

“I’m telling them, ‘We’re doing big things there.’ I tell them that we’re on the cusp of something great, and that attracts a lot of guys,” he said. “Some guys just want to go somewhere and win right away. And I’m like, ‘Well, we can do that if we get it all right. But it’s a special feeling when you can create something and build something out and that kind of thing.’ That’s my main pitch to guys.

“But the other thing —*especially with offensive linemen and quarterbacks and skill guys on offense and stuff like that who are considering other schools in the SEC — I’m just like, ‘I mean, if you don’t go to Tennessee, I’m going to have to kill you on the football field, so it’s probably in your best interests to go to Tennessee,’” he added with a laugh.

McKenzie said he didn’t directly inform the Vols of his decision before Thursday’s announcement, but he “dropped a hint with” defensive line coach*Steve Stripling“the night before.”

Tennessee head coach*Butch Jones*and his staff “were all fired up,” McKenzie said, when he talked with them following his announcement.

He said his father —*former Tennessee standout*Reggie McKenzie, who’s now the general manager of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders — also was thrilled by his decision, although the elder McKenzie “didn’t steer me” toward the Vols.

“I’m sure you heard the screaming that was in the background of the video they showed on ESPN. That was him. That was my dad,”*Kahlil McKenzie*said. “He’s been getting calls and texts from former teammates, his brother, all of his friends back in Knoxville who are excited and that kind of thing. He’s excited. He has pride in his school.

“He definitely didn’t steer me to do anything that I didn’t want to do. And he even said a couple days before (I announced), ‘Hey, you’re really sure it’s not Arizona? It’s not any of these other schools?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, Dad. I’m all Vol.’

“Even down to the wire, he was like, ‘Make sure you do what’s best for you.’”

McKenzie said he’s hoping he “might” be able to return to Tennessee on an unofficial visit the weekend of Oct. 4 for the Vols’ game against Florida, and he doesn’t plan to consider any other schools going forward.

“I’m shutting it down,” he said. “I don’t think that’ll change — at least I don’t expect it to —*but Tennessee will be the only place I visit.”

I'm excited for the first time Kahlil uses an opposing player to sack his own QB. Insult to injury right there...

Haynesworth threw Dustin Lucky @ the UGA qb in the 99 game. Qb's name slips my mind at the moment. The center wasn't a 300 pounder, but it was still an impressive play. KM is a bit shorter than 6'6", but he is already bigger than AH was at this stage.

Excellent recruiting by Butch Stones. Legacy doesn't mean other schools don't try their VERY best to land the top players like Kelly Jr and KM. Those are cornerstone players. And all Vol. Good times are ahead imo.

Boom! @ 90.45:

Host: The question on everybody's mind is; who are you bringing with you?

KM: Well, you know I gotta keep it hush right now.

Host: Give us a teaser.

KM: Well ya' know... a couple of 5-stars, ya know, a couple of 4's ya know what I'm talking about, but that's really all I can tell you, I gotta keep it a secret.

Host: Tell us this, does this have the potential to be the #1 class?

Km: I think so, especially with the talent we have. Some of these other schools that are coming in with higher recruiting classes... I got to see a lot of kids in action and some kids, their ranking is probably where it should be, some kids it's like 'how is this (being ranked so high) possible?'... that's how it is sometimes.

Good interview, starts at about 87.40. Austin Smith also has a good interview before him, at the 61.10 mark.
