I get that he wants attention. He's young and talented we should let him have his time. This just appears to be locked up to me. If he picks Arizona, I will be very shocked

Kahil isn't playing games with top 10 lists and leader boards like some other recruits. Announcing at The Opening will be great press for Tennessee and if not for that maybe he would already be committed.

You have to put yourself in their shoes. Not a lot of kids get this fortunate opportunity. I know if I was in their position I would milk this recruiting process for everything it's worth. I'd take every official visit. I'd meet as many coaches as I possibly could. And yes, I would have a very public announcement of where I'm going to commit to. Why? Because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity that a very small number of kids ever get to do that will create a memory they'll never forget.

I have a theory. Butch is gonna get a big time legacy or at the very least a big time prospect to commit at The Opening every year. Book it.

UT is recruiting McKenzie by promoting itself.
AZ is recruiting McKenzie by desperately trying to diss UT.

McKenzie is a smart guy and will see through that BS.

Pretty presumptuous to assume that you know his reasons or motives. Given that Bates had been silent for months prior to committing during The Opening last year, it stands to reason that KM is doing what Butch is asking. And please don't suggest that Bates is particularly me-centric. The kid strikes me as very low key and down to earth.

This kid has been my favorite recruit all along. Can't see how anyone can find it negative that he is waiting for max publicity for his announcement. It is fun for him but GREAT for UT.

I've always felt Kahlil's recruitment has been very similar to DB's. Kahlil has likely been a silent for a good while.
