And I wasn't able to find a direct link for the QB's rushing under CBJ except for individual wiki's that are poorly formatted, but with the exception of Lefeveor in 2007 his QB's stayed around 300-600 yards rushing. We aren't looking for a 1000 plus yard rusher at the position. Leave that to the RB's.

300-600... That's a pretty big range there. Pretty easy to say his QBs stayed around the same yards when it's a range of 300 yards. That's a pretty big difference when it comes to rushing yards for a QB. That'd be like saying his QBs usually pass for around 2,000-3,000 yards.

The mean was closer to 500, but the range wasn't really important to my point. The point I was trying to make is that you don't really see Butch's QB's running for nearly 1000 yards. If the QB is getting 30 or so yards on the ground a game then we are more than gravy.

It should also be noted that the rate at which Dobbs ran it versus how often he threw it was 38/121 or roughly 20% of the time the QB possessed the ball. That doesn't account for pass plays that broke down and resulted in the QB scrambling.

A big thing to note is those numbers are with North being out for 2 of the 5 games and then Croom being out for 1/2 of the last game.

I honestly would be surprised if we Read-Option run it that much with what should be a much improved WR corps.

Almost all of our running plays are from the read-option but that still doesn't mean the QB had to keep it 10+ times a game. If the QB keeps it 3-5 times and gets good yards then that will be more than enough to keep the D honest.

"Coach Jones said he was excited to offer me and he wants me to get back up there and that's what we're planning on doing. We're going to do that," Dormady said. "We're taking a big tour of schools so we will see all the schools that offered me including Tennessee again."

"I worked extremely hard just to get back and this is by far the best I've ever felt, arm-wise and everything physically," Dormady explained. "It's the most I've ever weighed and I feel really good about where I am athletically. That's something I was hoping for, proving myself and proving I'm back and that I can play with the elite guys. I just wanted to do my best and things would fall in place."

"They are a big program and I would play in front of a lot of people. It's a big fan base. It's in a great city. There's nothing I didn't like about it," Dormady said. "The facilities are really nice and the stadium is amazing. Obviously, whenever any teenager goes and visits that place, something that stands out is how big the stadium is."

"You do (think about the depth chart), but that's not one of my big priorities, what players they have,"Dormady said. "Because, I believe with the abilities I've been given, if a program needs to be brought up to another level I can be the guy that can do that."

We'll run read-option but I don't think it'll be the primary.

I think we ran a good bit of RO because our WRs were shaky at best and we didn't have any valid TE options.

I think what we saw at the O&W game (in terms of how the offense was called and structured) is indicative of what Jones et al want from their offense. Strong passer with good mobility to run RO packages without having to change personnel.

A lot of Barner folks down here I work with think Jeremy Johnson could unseat Marshall this year. If not, then Williams would definitely get a year with Johnson at QB in 2015. Regardless, Johnson (a pass-first guy with mobility and not a converted DB) is seen as the future of their program.

Regardless of Auburn, there is no way they're selling a "read-option primary" offense to these kids. We might end up going read-option but I would not believe Preston Williams would choose to go to a read-option school. That kid is pretty much a day 1 starter anywhere he goes. Why go to a read-option primary school?

You are 100% correct. Butch has not let his QB's run but on a very limited basis. We need a QB who is accurate with the pass and know how to read defenses. A DT QB would be wasted with this system.

Guy on 247 knows his parents...

Just got off the phone with his dad (his dad is the Boerne High School football coach). I talked to his mom for a long time at the store recently. His mom said there is something special about this staff at TN. Dad loves the way accuracy is important and loved what the coaches had to say.
I think we have a very good shot at Dormady.
The kid is 6'4" 210 and still growing...fast. He will play (I hope) at TN at 6"5"-6"6" and 230. The kid has a rocket and is accurate as hell. He has also grown into his body in the last year and gotten far more mobile.
With the receivers we have, do we need a scrambling QB in the next three years or a guy that can hit uber-talented receivers and pick up 5-7 when we need it?
My son played receiver for Q two years ago. Their 70n7 team humiliated much more highly ranked teams.
The most important quality is his ability to make throws under pressure. He is lighting it up for visiting coaches.

GO BIG ORANGE!!! I haven't been this excited since my wedding night!! I took Tracy and Jax to their first Vols game in 2005...I think was the year. 109,000 SCREAMIN TENNESSEANS!! We won last minute on a 52 yard field goal. Tracy grabbed me, scared the stadium would collapse. Her comment, after being a Texas grad and many Texas games, was OMG!! That is like a professional stadium.
Please remind Q that the largest contingent of fighters at The Alamo were Tennesseans.
