"I loved it. I really did," Newsome said. "It was everything Kahlil said it would be. He told me how it is down there and it was special. It really is a special place. They take a lot of pride in Tennessee football and who they are as a program. It's a process but I truly believe coach Jones is turning it into the right direction. You can see spurts here and there and especially with the recruiting classes.
"That's one thing that caught my eye with Tennessee in the beginning, his ability to put together a top five recruiting class last year when they didn't have the best year. They've got the No. 3 recruiting class this year so that says a lot about coach Jones and where the program is headed."
"The visit really helped a lot. Coach Azzanni has been trying to get me down to Tennessee for a while. He came to see me in the spring and he was all in on me," Newsome explained. "Even when I had a top five without Tennessee he told me they weren't giving up on me. So that's how you know they really want you there. They exceeded my expectations and they have great people, a storied program, this visit helped them out a lot.
"Before I saw Tennessee I was going to make my decision some time in December or early January," Newsome said. "That's probably changing now because Texas wants me to come on my official visit in January and then Tennessee wants me back there to visit and then Ole Miss wants me to come back to see them, too. It might be mid-January because I'd rather have my decision before signing day but I will have to make a return trip to Knoxville."
