I think Tennessee is probably one of the more loyal fan bases I’ve seen in a while,” Newsome said. “They’re not really fair-weather. Of course, like most fans —*if not all fans —*they can be a little demanding. But they understand that it’s a process, and it’s going to take a little more time. … They’re definitely very supportive. Tennessee’s got one of the great fan bases that I’ve seen.”

Newsome said Azzanni and Jones have “been trying to get me to Tennessee for almost a year now,” and he likes that the Vols are “definitely going in the right direction” under Jones’ staff.

He’s already familiar with one of Tennessee’s commitments for the 2015 class: five-star defensive tackleKahlil McKenzie. McKenzie and Newsome first met a couple of years ago when they played in the Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

“I’ve always pretty much talked to Kahlil,” Newsome said. “But when he committed to Tennessee, he got on me right away. He understands the process. He’s not really putting a lot of pressure on me.

“But at the same time, he just lets me know that he wants me there. He wants me to come ball out with him and change the program around.”

Tennessee’s coaches also have made it clear to Newsome, who’s being recruited by most teams as a potential slot receiver and return specialist, that he’s a high priority for the Vols.

“They told me that they need that game-breaker,” he said. “Of course, (Tennessee junior receiver)*Pig Howard, that’s the type of guy they want. They just think I’d be able to make a little bit more plays — a little bit more dynamic.

“They have a top-five class and have a lot of commits, and they told me they only can take, like, three more commits. But they told me that, no matter what, they’re going to take me because they think I could make that big of an impact on the team and come in and play right away.” He will OV next weekend to UCLA, Oklahoma Nov. 8th. In the process of scheduling Texas for his last OV.

Assuming we finish the season In a respectable manner, I think there's a chance that five current commits won't be signing with us on national signing day.

That's how confident I am that Butch Jones and Company can recruit with anyone in the country.
