Yeah he came to recent camp. Hopefully this gets us ahead of FSU who is waiting on another TE decision. Ramsey's dad is his trainer so a strong FSU tie there.

def a selling point with FSU. I think Ramsey will be a 1st Round pick after his Junior Year IMO. Oliver might get 1 year with him at FSU at best.

Kyle Oliver has had a good last couple of months.

The 6-foot-4, 226-pound tight end from Oakland High School in Murfreesboro used to consider himself a 'basketball guy' before his junior season when he decided to make football a priority and the offers have been coming in ever since.

"I was a basketball guy until a year ago," Oliver said. "I didn't start getting serious until before my junior year."

Talk about it in The General's Quarters
Concentrating on the gridiron has paid with as Oliver now holds over a dozen offers with his latest being from the home state team, Tennessee, as he impressed at the Vols' camp last Friday.

"They wanted to see me in person and they thought I had a good camp," Oliver said.

Oliver spent a majority of the day working out and talking with tight ends coach Mark Elder and he said he liked getting to know the longtime Butch Jones assistant.

"He just has a lot of energy. I liked the facilities and all of that and it was probably one of best that I've seen so far, but I like his style of coaching. He pushes his players," Oliver said. "He gave me a tour of everything. That was awesome and told me a lot. I liked it."

Oliver admits he didn't grow up watching much football and wasn't a big fan of any school in particular and that means he doesn't know too much about the Tennessee program as his camp experience was his first visit to Rocky Top.

"That was actually my first time there so I can't actually tell you much. He showed me a lot of drills they did in practice and showed me some film. I can see myself fitting into that offense," Oliver said.

Elder and the Tennessee staff won't be the only people in Oliver's ear about becoming a Vol as teammate and Tennessee commitment Jack Jones has already started recruiting Oliver.

"I hear from all the time. It's going to be crazy now that Tennessee offered," Oliver said. "I heard from him this morning. He's just telling me to commit already, not even to think about it, just commit."

Some of Olivers' offers include Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Louisville, Purdue and Kentucky, along with the Vols, and he's receiving serious interest from schools like LSU, Ohio State and Florida State as well.

Oliver said right now he's just looking for the schools that fit him the bedt.

"it's going good. It's crazy, actually. I'm getting a lot of attention," Oliver said. "Now, I'm just trying to visit schools where I can see myself going."

Along with Tennessee, Oliver mentioned Kentucky and Florida State among the schools he has visited and could see himself fitting in.

Right now his plan is to take a few more visits before he hopes to end his recruitment before the conclusion of his summer break.

"I really don't know. I'm just doing it on the go. Hopefully, I can make a decision before the season starts. That's what I'm hoping to do," Oliver explained. "I just want to wait it out and take a good look at where I can go."

Just watched his film. He is a big guy who has played WR in high school and is definitely a tight end at the collegiate level. He has decent speed but little wiggle in his gait. He will be a threat in the seams and down the field in our offense. We see why Butch did not offer Jackson Harris.

i agree. hes an athletic kid.

theres a reason FSU and LSU are very intrigued with him right now too. On rivals there are 13 4-star TEs. Oliver is #14. Good chance he keeps on blowing up. I hope we add him.

For those wondering, we are recruiting Oliver as a hybrid-type tight end. Not a receiver, even though he's classified as receiver in this thread and on some recruiting sites. To add to that, this isn't Van Jefferson's spot and we still should be able to get both.

Is this kid legit?

I think he is. His film looks very good. I would rather Jaason Lewis, but this kid would be right behind him. I had removed a TE from my class predictions and I think most on here felt a TE was not real likely in 2015. If he commits, will just have to figure out who on my board won't be a Vol. :p

Completely different tight ends. Harris isn't half the receiving threat that this kid is. But Oliver isn't nearly ready to block EMOLs in the SEC.

i agree but he has time for that. you cant teach the athleticism at 16-17 yrs old and 6'5 230lb. Harris cant just go out and get athleticism.

His film looks great, but in my "non-expert" opinion his blocking skills could be in question at the SEC level. The coaches most probably are comfortable with the potential of Ethan Wolf and Daniel Helm from a blocking standpoint. One thing I do know is that this class is certainly filling up fast. I like it. Has the staff quit recruiting Jaason Lewis? Just curious.
