'15 TN QB Dylan Wieger

Not to comment on this kid specifically, but it's become tradition that somebody will post a profile of a kid, and the locals will all claim that he is "the real deal."

Not knocking anyone, but it is like 1000 boys crying wolf, so much so that it makes some folks completely disregard TN QBs.

I'm a local and I know that the competition up here in the Tri cities is nothing compared to the rest of the state. Especially in football. Every now and then a good player that will succeed is up here but for the most part the talent is not here. The sooner we quit recruiting "stars" up here the better we will be.

They aren't in the same conference anymore.
South now plays:

Unicoi county
Happy valley
Sullivan north
Sullivan east
Elizabethton

And if you know anything about the Tri cities you know these are definitely not the best teams in the area.

Science hill
Dobyns Bennett
Tennesee high

Are the big schools that most years are the best teams.

Also if you read earlier posts you know that I went to Sullivan Central not DB.

My school was awful at football and when we played Unicoi, happy valley, and east we knew we could win.

You should learn about an area before you talk about it. Especially when arguing with someone who played in that area.

If you know anything about the area you would know that Stacy Carter at SH or Graham Clark at DB would have loved to had Weiger as their QB and both would tell you that they would still be in the playoffs...

Agree, but the kid at SH is pretty good too.

I have seen him play and I promise you nothing in this area can prepare him for SEC football. The sooner we have to quit recruting this area the better we will be. The talent isn't here.

Tell that to Jason whitten, heath miller, the Jones boys, Gerald sensabaugh, teddy Gaines, malik foreman, devaun swafford, Ahmad bradshaw just to name a few...it's a good thing you,re not a recruiter if you put limits on the areas to recruit in...is your name Dooley?

Middle Tennessee and other parts can get that many players to next level in one year not 20 hot shot hate to burst your bubble. It's easy to see there is better talent in other regions.

There is talent in all regions.just like Weiger, against a Fulton team that allowed 57 points all season I'd say that was a pretty good defense , wouldn't you? However, a QB with no talent ran for 118 yards and 3 TD's and passed for 192 yards against this mediocre team. I,d say that was a heck of an effort being a junior with little talent....wouldn't you...

Get over it man. This kid has the potential to grow into something special but it's up to him. He has to want to first and work his butt off to get there along with getting some exposure.

Malik McGue pretty much single-handedly ended The Streak belonging to D-B. He's a 4.4 guy and while a little on the small side could surely be recruited to do something at UT.

How tall is he? Like 5'8 or something right?

Yeah. 5'8 & 165 but fast and shifty as hell and he's a '15 guy so he might not be done growing. I think he could be a good RB/KR at the next level if beefed up a little bit. If he grows 3 or 4 more inches, he could be a stud DB. Had 630 yards on 59 carries for 10.7 YPC this year, which is pretty impressive.

Not sure if anyone mentioned but Wieger broke Curt Phillips passing TD record this year, as a junior. Huge arm and good athlete. It isn't his fault where he plays.

I've talked to him and he said he's going to a few camps over the Summer to get his name out there. Really, really high on Tennessee if they were to show interest.

Wieger is a pretty good player but he would have to pick it up a bunch to be a QB in the SEC. He did have a good game against Fulton but that's the only one im counting. Some of those teams South played are only a tic above a middle school team in some areas. There are some good athletes in upper east Tennessee but the coaching up there is not very good. Any comparisons of Wieger to Curt Phillips is no help. Phillips couldn't get into the SEC either. I just don't see Wieger going D1. Hope he proves me wrong though.
