Dylan Wieger - Hudl

He doesn't have any recruiting profiles yet but Wieger will be one to watch next year. He wrapped up his 1st year as a starting QB last night with a standout performance against Fulton, passing for 172 yards and rushing for 118 yards & 3 TDs against possibly the best defense in the state.

Carter head coach Heath Woods had this to say about Wieger after his team lost to South last week: "He lets go of the ball about as well as anybody I've seen. He looks like he could play at the next level. He's big with a big body and a quick release. He can throw the ball down the field in a tight spiral."

Season numbers: completed 144 of 233 passes (62%) for 2,263 yards & 30 TDs with 8 INTs, rushed for 1,065 yards & 12 TDs while averaging about 8 ypc.

I live in the area and have heard several people say he is the real deal.

I know this kid. He isn't that good and the competition he plays against is weak. He was supposed to go to my high school but transferred. He got bumped down a division so they played schools that have 150 pound defensive tackles. If even gets a look I will be surprised.

I knew someone would bring up the "weak competition" line, and it's true that NE Tenn. football is not very strong. That's why I waited until after the Fulton game to post about Wieger, as I wanted to see how he'd do against against top-notch competition.

Considering he accounted for 290 yards of total offense and ran for 3 TDs against a defense that was giving up just 137 yards & 5.2 points per game, I'd say your assessment that Wieger "isn't that good" is debatable. Of course, he may or not be an SEC-caliber athlete, but he's certainly done enough this year to merit mention as a possible prospect.

Thank you. I smelt sour grapes as soon as I read dude's post. Nobody else I'm aware of has came even remotely close to doing as good as he did against Fulton. Didn't Curt Phillips come from Sullivan South? I think he went to Wisconsin a few years back. They're a little similar imo. And even if this kid doesn't end up major D-1 material, it's nice to see a kid from that region do well.

I take it you go to Dobyns Bennett. I don't think you should be trash talking Sullivan souths schedule . Db plays the same competition then gets hammered by the 1 st team from the Knoxville area they meet in the playoffs every year. 6-6.....

I've been to many of his games this year. He's very athletic, and does have a strong arm. Looks like he could potentially fit in CBJ offense

Dobyns Bennett does not play the same schedule as South.

What is DB's record vs South over the last 30 years?

the last QB that was 6'3 and 210 that put up those kind of numbers is QBing for the Indy Colts...just saying, with some camps and tutoring you never know...

CBJ does like big strong QBs. In fact, I think that's really what his offense needs. Collaros was pretty good but he hasn't really had one fitting the description since Dan LeFevour.

Db has annexed 1/2 of sullivan souths feeder system, and 3/4 of sullivan norths feeder system, so there record should be good against south. Regardless they can't beat any decent school in their own classification. 6-6....

No, I'm saying that Db should beat south every time that they play them. I'm also saying Db doesn't t have the athletes to compete with the better teams in their classification. They beat up on smaller schools all year and then get beat in the 1 st 2 rounds of the playoffs every year.

I went to Fulton and know several people who attended the game. They say he looks legit. He definitely played better than other qb has against us.

DB has had its share of playoff let downs, but to categorize them as lacking in athletes is folly, as is suggesting that they bounce out early "every year"

Most wins all time in the history of Tennessee high school football?

Dobyns Bennett High School
