'15 TN OT Drew Richmond (Former Ole Miss commit)

SKILL ASSESSMENT: Richmond is a very athletic offensive lineman, especially one weighing over 310 pounds. Richmond bends as good as anyone in his class and with his power is an ideal right tackle at the next level.

STATUS WITH VOLS: Richmond has been on Tennessee's campus twice the last few months. First for the Orange & White Game in April and again for Foundation Day in July. Tennessee has positioned themselves well early, but Richmond is someone a number of teams are after hard early on.

OTHERS INVOLVED: Alabama, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt .... Bahahaha!!! Stop it.

Right now it's shaping up to be a Tennessee/Ohio State battle. The Vols have gotten him on campus several times and he's scheduled to be in town this weekend so we will see.

He's been in pretty consistent communication with Jones and the staff. I think he likes the Vols a good bit. He's going to be heavily recruited. Tennessee will be in it with him till the finish.

Some of the top 2015 prospects on the Buckeyes’ board were in attendance at the Ohio State-Wisconsin game on Saturday night. It was a six hour drive, but offensive lineman Drew Richmond (Memphis, Tenn./University School) was one of those that made it to the game. Richmond’s favorite school growing up was Ohio State and he visited OSU this summer, so he wasn’t surprised by what he saw in The Shoe this past weekend.

“I mean it was crazy – the fans,” Richmond said. “I knew it would be like that. I was blessed (to be there).”

Richmond liked what he saw on the field too.

“Ohio State played with intensity,” Richmond said. “(Jared) Abbrederis got off a little, but Ohio State stayed together and got it done. The offensive line was really good.”

The 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Richmond has a long list of scholarship offers that includes Ohio State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Louisville and UCLA. Though he says he doesn’t have a leader, there is no doubt Richmond has a strong interest in Ohio State.

“I love Ohio State,” Richmond said. “Ohio State is definitely high (on the list).”

Next up for Richmond will be a visit to Tennessee on Saturday to see the Vols host Georgia.

Richmond is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 87 overall 2015 prospect, the No. 6 offensive tackle and the No. 2 prospect in Tennessee.

that's gross. but I certainly appreciate the update. :)

Lol. I hear you. I like posting all updates, no matter if it's positive or negative. For the most part, everyone here only gets to see the stories/quotes fluffing UT. I understand a lot of people don't have subscriptions, so it's understandable. However, posting all of these updates helps keep everyone in check with the big picture. So, when something goes down like Von Bell, the board doesn't freak out...as bad.

Drew Richmond told me he had an, 'amazing,' experience yesterday in Neyland Stadium and said the fight from the team was really impressive. He said if he were to have a top team it would be Tennessee after the visit.

He also visited Ohio State last weekend and they were very impressive as well.

Boom! I saw him and patted him on the shoulder, and told him I hope that he is a Vol. A lot of these kids seemed floored that I knew who they were. They also seemed very humble, especially Preston Williams, who stopped and shook my hand, when I said something about him being our newest Vol.

Richmond was bumped 15 spots in the new 247 2015 player rankings. He is the #129 overall player and is rated a 93, 4*.

"It was crazy. The atmosphere was crazy," Richmond said. "The fans were amazing, simply amazing. Going from two amazing fan bases last week to this week has been crazy."

"I like what coach Jones is doing," Richmond said. "Everyone has been saying they should put in a freshman but I appreciate coach Jones that he hasn't thrown in Josh Dobbs or Riley Ferguson if they're not ready."

"After the game I talked to Tiny and he said, 'We need you here.' I'm like, 'What? Did Tiny just say that?' This dude is a top-five pick and he said they need me so that was big to me," Richmond explained.

"If I had to come out with a top they'd be up there," Richmond offered. "It's my state. I love my state and playing time and I really like the coaches there and the people on the team."

On UT not giving up.

"They didn't give up," Richmond said. "They just didn't give up and being from Tennessee, we don't give up in Tennessee and they exemplified everything I'm about."

"I talked to them after the game. The guys didn't give up and it was a great," Richmond said. "The guys just didn't give up and it was a great stepping-stone and they've got to keep getting better from there."

Other than tOSU and UT... UA, UNC, and Ole Miss have impressed him so far.

You would be surprised to know how many of these kids from Memphis say that about UT. As soon as we are winning again this staff will lock up Memphis talent we need.
