'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Talk about the perfect storm. LSU blows a game and Chavis is basically showed the door by Les Miles. (Miles could have matched what A&M was going to pay).

Then you have Ole Miss being exposed and they are not going to get any better than a 40-3 blowout against a good team.

You are eating dinner with the wrong people if you think Chavis was shown the door by Miles

I don't think it was the money, I think it had more to do with how the buyout was structured.

I never have bought the excuse of having nothing to play for. It's a football game, and a trophy is awarded at the end for your school. I don't think I would want a team of players that gave poor effort because they didn't get the bowl or game they wanted. Every competitive player that I have known, didn't even want to lose at checkers much less a bowl game on national TV.

Agree totally. Part of being the better team is being able to stay focused and bring your best effort every week.

I think it was probably just a business decision for Chavis..this is probably his last contract and he wanted to take care of his family..can't blame him for that

If you want a coach badly enough, you get with your AD to make it happen. You do not let your DC go to one of your rivals over money, unless you are indifferent about the coach……especially if you are Les Miles, who's opinions matter greatly in the LSU AD.

#OleMiss or #LSU but think #LSU now “@15classVols: @rivalsmike Mike since John Chavis left LSU what's ur feeling on Kyle Phillips ? Thx”

- Mike Farrell

If Les Wanted him, the AD would have done everything in his power to keep him. Les was indifferent.

I don't believe it was Les. It was the AD. I also think Chavis might have left even if LSU matched. Chavis appeared to be upset at how he was treated. It was nut as cut and dry as you are implying.

Madness

The AD wouldn't pony up to pay Chavis. Miles hands were tied

It is quite apparent that the LSU AD doesn't think Miles will be there much longer. I am not sure that he cares a whole lot about what Miles thinks.

Kyle trolling. No way mama approves of Orgeron

I have got to agree with you there Wick. Ogre is a scumbag and the Phillip's family just does not seem a match with this rude, crude guy. I know he represented us for awhile and with what I know about him now I regret he did.

Chavis is not a money whore, so it was more about the wished of others than Chavis just wanting to cash in.

Butch is a damn genius! Got Chavis to decommit from LSU so he could own the state once again...Florida got rid of the chump, and we don't have to play anyone next year!!! Hail chief for being a VFL but damn Butch is a genius!!!!!

Lol. You're clueless. The contract is what burned the bridge for LSU. The ad practically sabotaged miles with that contract.

I think Tux is thinking that Chavis wants to help his family be set for life. Chavis is thinking about this in a unselfish manner.

@K72_Phillips: If Coach O is the new DC for LSU that'll be clutch 👌

You kidding me? Looks like nothing is gonna keep the kid out of Baton Rouge. Wtf?

That would be clutch except for the fact that he has not been all that great of a coordinator with very little experience. I can clearly see why he would be excited. I would say that he is not trolling and will be at LSU much like Amadi and his tweets.
