'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

I can't believe how everyone just automatically thinks b/c of a tweet they think he doesn't like us. Folks his main recruiter up a leaves him like a week away when he has to enroll in school. I like our chances. Let the kid have his fun. From what I can tell he must be a pretty good kid and he has his act together if he is an EE.

Screw him. I am tired of his derogatory comments. He has said nothing but negative things towards UT. Always the excuses about going to another school. All his comments are unnecessary. Just keep his mouth shut until he announces. I don't want him. Go run your mouth at another school. See ya wouldn't want to be ya

Anyone think he's looking at the All-American in front of him at UT and doesn't want to be a part time player?

We all know 2nd string gets plenty of playing time and just a play away from starter. Most kids see, I'm on the bench at least two years.

No inside info or anything just think it could be a factor.

Not at all, there will be competition anywhere he goes and most places will have more than one player to worry about

This recruitment honestly has driven me batty! I thought someone on VQ Swan was saying we were surging and now this tweet... Of course I never dreamed Justin Martin would commit after his precious comments and tweets and here we are today with that good news so maybe we shouldn't read as much into these tweets...De1 what is your opinion? Eazy TD do you think Orgeron to LSU is a bunch of rumors? I am going to take a Tylenol now....

Silly season is not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. Lol

This kid seems like he is just trying to find a way not to be a VOL. I'm sorry but if the kid is looking for any reason to go elsewhere then let him go. If he gets here and hates it then he may be a cancer to the team and we don't need that. Just don't understand when all signs point for him to commit to the vols and play along side some elite DL talent and he just seems to find a way not to come here. He may be a stud but if his heart is not in it, we do not need him.

He genuinely likes TN. He's stated it many times in almost all interviews. Maybe he's just an elite recruit that is trying to make a tough decision? Maybe he understands that you shouldn't make a decision simply because you like one coach, because you have friends at a given school, or because a school is close in proximity? More goes into it than that. I'd rather a recruit take his time and be 100% sure on where he wants to go than to second guess himself for months and play games with the media and fans. Plus, he's an EE, so he needs to be sure, and he doesn't have as much time as many other elite recruits. Or, maybe he simply just doesn't want to show his hand too early?

You're arguing that he should want to play alongside other elite DL. You realize that he would have to be very special to take the job away from Maggitt and Barnett? Immediate playing time is arguably more available to him at LSU and Ole Miss. Moreover, he has states throughout the process that he's looking for a team that is established and successful. I don't think anyone will deny that UT is on the way up and is showing a lot of promise, but can we really compete with the actual results of LSU over the past nearly decade or Ole Miss this season (disregarding today's results)?

If there is something that is driving him away from UT, it is not known to the general public, and it's speculation.

Just trying to add perspective.

I wonder if his cousin knows his current sentiment due to Chavis bailing.

Hopefully he'll see how unstable the situation at LSU is and come to UT (feels weird taking about stability on our end).

LSU is one bad loss from imploding. Ole Miss had a bad loss today.. I'm interested to see how that plays out. The team looked like they quit on CHF

Not sure about quitting, but TCU sure laid the wood to them today. Woodshed style...

Something is up on the Buyou. I think I saw a Tweet from a national guy saying he's not sure Les will be there two years from now.

TCU did lay a beating, but OM looked like they didn't care.

TCU had something extra to play for, Ole Miss didn't. TCU doesn't care about the trophy they just won, they care about the big :finger3: they just gave to the NCAA committee today. If OSU loses by more than 10 points, the committee is going to be looking highly incompetent. The funny part about all this crap comes in the fact that it was totally avoidable. If they had the intentions of placing OSU at #4 if they won the Big 10 championship, then they should have just placed them at that spot the week before the game. Had they done this, it would have been a win-win situation. If OSU loses, TCU rightfully gets in, and if OSU wins, then the committee looks like they know what they are doing. By moving TCU to #6, they discredited every playoff prediction they had made previously. The committee tacitly admitted that the team rankings really don't matter until the last one comes out.

Putting Urben State in the playoffs had nothing to do with 'rankings' and everything to do with money...... IMO..

Edit: I hope Bama puts a beat down of EPIC proportion on them..

I knew when Condi and some army guy got put in there it was about politics. It's not about the best team. I'd rather see a computer pick the top four than those idiots.

All you have to know is the Chavis situation to realize that even people at LSU think Les may not be there in a couple of years. Why would they put a clause in Chavis' extension that they will only pay him 6 months if Les leaves? That is an indication that Les may leave. Really interesting situation down there.

They made it pretty clear that it was a week to week decision. While it may seem odd to some, I understand why they moved OSU up because they added an extra game against a ranked opponent. Not sure I agreed with it, but the premise was always that they would consider the results up to that week and that it went week to week.

I never have bought the excuse of having nothing to play for. It's a football game, and a trophy is awarded at the end for your school. I don't think I would want a team of players that gave poor effort because they didn't get the bowl or game they wanted. Every competitive player that I have known, didn't even want to lose at checkers much less a bowl game on national TV.

Talk about the perfect storm. LSU blows a game and Chavis is basically showed the door by Les Miles. (Miles could have matched what A&M was going to pay).

Then you have Ole Miss being exposed and they are not going to get any better than a 40-3 blowout against a good team.
