'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Ordway's academics were such to where he would have trouble getting admitted to UT. Not an issue at Ole Miss, can't pin that on UT staff.

If this is true that we have to satisfy the third party (former UT player or not) instead of the player and his family, that's just flat wrong. It sounds like AAU coaches/handlers in the world of HS BBall

This is dead on about Ordway. The other kids on the football team with him had said all along that he was all UT. Then the rumor of grades started flying and you could just see the talk of his recruitment disappear...quick

Buck see's them weekly. there is not contention amongst them at all. What a joke that so many people talk about stuff they have no clue about. just make stuff up

I agree but speculation is going to occur when you have LSU that has been a non-factor in middle Tennessee for the most part suddenly come in and take 3 of the top ten players in the state, all coming from Buck's stables where the Buck's former coach happens to be the D-Coordinator at LSU. There may be nothing to it but it sure does stink to high heaven!

Phillips never seemed overly high on Tennessee IMO. I mean I know he considered them, but he always seemed to downplay them while talking up other schools far more, so LSU isn't a surprise at all. I'm just surprised Butch didn't win over the mother with how good his academic reputation has been at every stop he's made compared to all these other SEC schools. (If indeed academics mattered as much as we've been led to believe).

I think it's unfair to blame Buck or the TN staff on this one. The staff did everything in their power to get him. He's been their #1 priority for over a year. Granted, Buck is probably a lot more pro-LSU than he is some other schools because of his ties with Chavis, but no way he was the reason these kids are going to LSU.

I still cant figure out what Ugo is thinking by going to LSU. He's going to be the lowest rated corner out of the 4 that they are going to sign in this class alone, and it's obvious he's the "Nash Nance" for LSU in this package with Phillips. Why else would they have just recently started recruiting this kid if not for a way of assuring them Phillips?

So, there's no merit at all to any of this stuff about Buck?

Sounds like he bought into all the "Honey Badger" talk. The Honey Badger is pretty much an icon among the kids these days.

I agree with you that he seems to be a pawn to get Phillips (Also think that we were doing the same thing).

I don't know if we are doing the exact same thing with him as LSU is as I think TN has a much bigger need at CB than LSU does, but LSU has absolutely no need for him. No doubt he's a pawn for Phillips from their standpoint.

you obviously don't understand what In Full Motion is or does. If Buck or his Dad, who runs In Full Motion, directed any kid to any school that would out the mission and objectives of IFM at high risk. It is not something to push athletes to any school and they do NOT promote any school. Not Tennessee or any other school.

Also, if you remember, some moran ran over to VQ and posted that someone was over here spilling the beans.

I know exactly what they do and I know the ramifications of them steering kids to a school. But, I also know things can be done subtly that can be taken by a kid to go or not go to a certain school. Like I said, he may not be doing anything wrong but it stinks to high heaven. If you read my post I said this type of thing reeks and speculation is going to occur whether it is warranted or not.

I love your insight MH, but isn't your last paragraph concerning from a UT standpoint? If Ugo's not good enough to see the field at LSU then why would we want him on the field here? We play the same teams week in and week out. I want guys that are better than Ugo then. If he's LSU's "Nash" for KP then he should be our Nash as well, not a serious component to our rebuild.

this speculation has happened for the last 3 years. Every year about this time when IFM kids go elsewhere. But I can promise you, they do not push kids anywhere. I have supported them financially for several years. If there was a hint of anything wrong I would not do that. I know they do not do it.

You do realize how stacked LSU is at DB... Right?

And only one of those 5 are members of Buck's playmakers academy.

Van Jefferson, Phillips, Amadi, Ordway's and Ke'shawn Vaughn are all under Buck's tutelage. Maybe he's pissed that CBJ passed on Ordway and Vaughn.

Ordway sucks though. I'm sorry but he's not that good. By the time he committed nobody really wanted him.

I've never felt Ugo was an elite prospect by any means. I think he's decent. The difference is when you compare what LSU has at DB and what TN has at his position. I'd say he's probably better than a few in the TN two deep heading into next year. LSU is just that far ahead of TN right now when it comes to talent at DB on their roster as well as the CB's they are going to land in his recruiting class.

I just want this "silly season" social media crap to come to a close.
Mr Phillips....just man up, come on to the hill, put in some work, and be a part of something special!
This team and in particular this defense coming together is going to be amazing. There will be media hype, there will be plenty of excitement and buzz about this program, and a chance to win the division, which I don't see happening with BAMA in your division at LSU.

Stop the madness, be a hero to your home state peeps, and lets go play some big orange football!

I agree about the elite part. Very few of his offers jump off the page at you. Size is probably part of it but there's been plenty of elite, small CB with the offers to back it up. For example; Nickell Robey could've named his school.

I think you're confusing a position group with an entire team. It's not a player will play at UT but not LSU because LSU > UT. It is that a CB will play at UT but not LSU because LSU has done a heck of a job recruiting guys for the secondary. I'm not terribly familiar LSU's roster, but I'm pretty sure you could make similar statements for other position groups i.e. LSU OL > UT OL or UT WR > LSU WR
