Wow! 2 visits in next 3 weeks, as well as getting his last OV just before being an EE? Vol, no doubt. He is probably going to use the OV to make his spring schedule.

There was rumor on VQ last month that Phillips, Perry and Amadi tried to commit to UT during the spring as a package deal but UT coaches said no because they thought they could land Phillips and Perry separately and didn't really want Amadi.

I don't know what changed but it sure looks like we will get get all 3 as of right now.

Not to mention he had a tough time deciding whether to visit us or Alabama last week, and Alabama was playing the number 1 team in the country.

Why does Barton Simmons give all of these positives for Tenn but then say that he thinks if it was up to Kyle he would pick LSU? He should kill to play on a D line with Barnett, McKenzie and Tuttle for his in-state school.

It sure is. And I love the fact that not only are they all great athletes but they're also all huge guys. Line up our big DTs and DEs on early downs and obvious running situations, and then slide those DEs down to DT and bring in our pass rushing specialists at DE on passing downs.

Man I'm so pumped about to the potential of our defense as a whole but especially our defensive line going forward. Having a great d-line is crucial if you want to have a great defense in this league and makes things so much easier for the rest of the defense. Can't wait (Bart Scott voice).

Our D line in 2016 will be the best college football has seen in the last 15 years.

He's got a spot no matter what and he's worth the wait IYAM. He's the most complete DE we are in on IMO. He can play both the run and pass at a high level. He also seems like a high character guy. I like who we have already but I'd love to add Kyle to the group. He and Butcher are both talented do-it-all type of DEs to go with the speed rushers we have in the class.

If we land Phillips, then we are stack loaded at both SDE and WDE. I only have a few minor concerns going forward.

1. We need to continue to recruit a Maggit replacement. I think Henderson was just that for the 2014 class, and Taylor fits that bill for this class. Now, the concern comes in losing Taylor and/or Henderson getting cut due to his ACT. I've not seen an update on Henderson lately, but as far as I know he still hasn't been reinstated, correct? With that said, I hope we continue to press for Walker or DeBerry, with DeBerry being a very long shot IMO.

2. I hope getting Phillips and Butcher, to go along with Hendrix and DB, doesn't scare off Emmit Gooden in 2016. If we keep Henderson, Taylor, Jackson/Ford (though I think one if not both will leave if Phillips commits), then I'd be completely ok with signing 2 DTs and Gooden next year and calling it a day at DL. Way to early to worry about such a thing, but Gooden is a must get in 2016. A Richmond like prospect that we can't lose to an Ole Miss, etc.

Yep, everyone has seen what our defense is capable of doing. With the addition of Dobbs, they are also seeing the potential in this offense with all of the pieces. Makes it so much easier to project where we will be in the next year or 2.
