I agree. Back to Phillips. I wonder how we're looking in his eyes at this point. And I also wonder if we would have room for him if he decided he wanted to be a Vol since he isn't going to make a decision until so late in the process. I'm hoping the coaching staff would somehow make room for him because I think he could be a very good player for us, especially lined up along side the rest of the studs on the d-line. He'll be getting to go one on one with OTs on pretty much every play. Playing along side Shy and Kahlil has to be extremely enticing for any DE recruit.
Not too worried about the time table on his decision. We took instate guys Jashon Robertson less than a month before signing day, and Michael Sawyers on the morning of signing day itself. Now granted I know we could sign more players last class, but Phillips is a better recruit than those two, I'd be in sheer shock if we didn't take him. Keep in mind DL Cory Thomas was a commit until signing day as well. In my opinion, it was no coincidence we happened to trade one instate DL for another lower rated out of state DL the same morning. Both were expected to play DT.
