Speaking of Thing, is it just me or does it seem like he has been kind of quiet on the recruiting compared to last year?

I think it was said that Thig was going to scale it back some this recruiting cycle because the last year he was doing too much. They wanted other coaches to step up this year and give Thiggy more family time, IIRC.

Several other coaches also lied and committed various other serious violations and barely got slaps on their wrists. Slive and the NCAA went overboard in comparison on what they did to Pearl.

If you want to know the truth about it, slive actually went to bat for Pearl. I felt the same way you did for a while till I found out the true story. The AA laid out two punishments for UT, one with Pearl, one without. Despite Slive's efforts, the AA made it nearly impossible to keep him.

Can't blame him for ripping Pearl when he did. He brought bad publicity on the league. But, he obviously does not hold a grudge, since he has not said a word about him since Auburn hired him.

I also quite enjoy the dumpster fire that is Vandy. Seeing them struggle against the likes of Temple and UMASS gives me great pleasure

As mentioned in previous weeks, Tennessee was hoping to grab Ugo Amadi and Kyle Phillips as a package deal. That seemed to be turning into a longshot and may have further gone in that direction this week with the news that instead of visiting Knoxville this Saturday, the duo will be heading to Ole Miss. Jones visited Amadi, an Ole Miss commit, recently to try and prove to him that he was still a big priority for the Vols, but obviously that meeting did not have the impact Tennessee hoped for. The Vols will still likely get a visit from the duo, as will LSU, but Ole Miss has to feel good right now.
