In ten seasons he has seven ten plus win seasons, two conference titles, and a NC plus another appearance.
I'll take those wasted talent results.
They used to recruit among the top. For some reason, they haven't been in the top 5 the past 2 or 3 yrs and we have (2014 and 2015). Sort of strange, as that was the normal way of things. I personally think 2 top 5 classes can get you to the SEC Championship. Mizzou has done it with less than that.Yes. Routinely recruits at the top of the SEC and still loses 3-4 games regularly. Yes, it is the SECW, but besides Bama, there shouldn't be anyone else LSU can't rise above and beat.
I hate to miss on any of these guys but this class is still going to be great. If they can't see the trajectory of this program then they are blind. LSU has a great program but they have sort of topped out. I really don't see them besting Auburn or Alabama in the near future. Whule, at the same time, the east is ripe for the taking. We need guys that look at the chance to play for the Vols is an honor and a privilege. We don't need players that their dream school is LSU. We can't win with all TN players, we rely on quality players from out of state. If they have no loyalty to the instate school, good luck. This train is moving on with or without them. JMO
Losing Hendrix is tough if we don't get Phillips from a depth perspective. I do think Butcher will be great opposite Barnett though given their high motors.
"Just spoke with Kyle Phillips. He said he arrived here in San Antonio with a pretty good idea of where he'll be going, but he wants to do a little more thinking this week to make sure he's comfortable with his decision. He said he enjoyed his official visit to Tennessee a couple weeks ago, and the visit helped his mother get a bit more comfortable with the Vols' coaches and get to know them a bit better. He definitely will be an early enrollee wherever he goes, so he said Saturday's decision will mark the end of his recruitment.
We'll have a full story on Phillips shortly."

san antonio - nashville (tenn.) hillsboro defensive end kyle phillips has an impending commitment announcement on saturday at the u.s. Army all-american bowl. His finalists are ole miss, lsu and tennessee. There has been plenty of speculation as to where he'll land but as of now, phillips claims he has no idea.
"actually i don't know," phillips said when asked if he knows who he'll pick. "my mom is coming up this week and sometime this week before saturday, we'll make a decision."
there has also been some speculation that phillips would land in the same spot as fellow nashvillian ugo amadi. Amadi announces on tuesday between lsu and tennessee and has said that phillips would end up at the same program he picks. Asked what impact his decision will have, phillips dismissed any major repercussions.
"not much," he said. "more lsu than tennessee because i already know a few of the tennessee guys."
phillips didn't have much insight on amadi's decision either.
Phillips said that right now his recruitment is completely even between his three finalists. Asked what assistant coach would be the toughest to tell "no" to, he pointed to chris kiffin at ole miss because of how hard he has worked of late in landing the 6-4, 250-pounder. He also said that he thinks his mother likely favors lsu.
"i feel like she might like lsu the best but it's further away," he said. "i'm not sure. That might be her favorite though."
currently the 247sports crystal ball is strongly in favor of tennessee while lsu has garnered some recent predictions. Phillips is ranked by 247sports composite as the no. 110 player in the country.
