'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Just wondering why yall are thinking he is an OL. I havent seen him play other than the beginning of his highlight film and it was all defense. The biggest ive seen him listed at was 240. Is he bigger than that?

I think Butch likes a more athletic type tackle, instead of the bulldozer type...
with his frame,he has tons of room to grow into...then he keeps his athleticism
and becomes a LT or RT... athletic Tackles are the ones everyone looks for, especially
NFL GM's...

BOOM!

So should I list Dylan as an OL commit or DE commit?

lulz! Why not say TE since everybody likes to change them to that position? He's just down the road a piece from campus. Go ask him what he's going to play.

Dylan is a big kid that can add a lot of "good" weight. He is coming from a program that does nothing but win. He has been well coached by Quarles & company and that is a big plus. He's a smart kid that will take coaching and he will be a plus for Tennessee.

For you Vols that don't keep up, the VN faithful will always want to change a players position to some sort of O lineman or a DE/TE if the kid is taller than 6'3. Idk why but Just how it works on here.

It has been stated by Corner a month or more ago that Dylan's future was at OT. He has an excellent frame for it and his athleticism would work great in a zone blocking scheme.

But of course us Vol fans love speculating about this kinda stuff

“He’s excited, I think a little bit relieved, kind of happy to get it behind him, even though it’s still kind of early,” “I knew he wanted to commit early, and when (Tennessee) offered this summer, I think he was wise to wait and kind of see how everything kind of played out. But I know this is something he’s wanted to do, and he was really excited — kind of almost a different kid today when he told me that he was going to do it tonight.” Last weekend, (Jackson) called me and said, ‘I think I want to go ahead and commit,’” Quarles said. “He told me (Wednesday) night he was going to go ahead and do it today. They stopped by earlier, but, obviously, they can’t really talk to him there, so I think he called Coach Jones later this afternoon and did it then.”

“He really liked Coach Stripling,” Quarles said. “I think he really hit it off with Coach Jones, and Coach Jones is really easy to talk to. He’s one of those guys that he makes you feel like he enjoys talking to you, whether that’s me or you or Dylan or whoever. He’s just really easy to be around, and I think Dylan just felt good with it. You’ve got to go with your gut sometimes, and that’s what he did. “And it’s hard for a local kid to go a different direction, but I think especially with the direction the program’s heading right now — a lot of momentum over there — and Coach Jones has done a great job recruiting. It’s just a different feel over there right now, and I think Dylan picked up on that. He was definitely excited.”

“Clearly, I think that possibility is always out there for offense, but they never really mentioned it,” Quarles said. “They just talked about defense, and they talked about watching his film this year and just how much better he had gotten, and I concurred. And he can still get better, of course. His best days are ahead of him as he gets stronger and gets quicker. But Dylan’s a good player. He’s one of those that’s very competitive, understands the schemes and what you’re trying to do, very coachable. I think they’re definitely going to give him a shot on defense, and I’ll be surprised if he ends up playing on offense. I just think his best days are ahead of him.”

“(Strength) Coach (Brandon) Waters does a great job with him,” Quarles said. “Dylan stays after. He comes before. He does all the stuff that great players do.”

Working to be perfect has also helped Jackson become the player that he is.

“He is leading the way,” Gaylor said. “He studies film. He plays hard. He’s always wanting to try to find something that can help him play better, whether it is keying on what the other team is doing or if it is watching his guy all week that’s going to block him, to know how he is going to react to him.”

Not gonna lie, I was on mobile on the recruiting tweets thread and at first only caught Jackson commits to Tennessee. After freaking for a second thinking it was another Jackson, Im really happy to have this guy. Hard worker with a ton of potential at multiple positions, and a Tennessee guy.

I wonder what position the staff has in mind. He mentions that they only talk about defense. Maybe they will move him to DT when he grows into his frame.

I would like to see what he could do on the OL.

Once he grows into his frame, it'll hard to see him at DE IMO.

Big BOOM here!

Congrats Dylan on choosing to be a VOL!

IMO he is a DE unless he grows into a DT in about 3 years. With the OT's we are in on and have committed, I think he stays on defense.
