If this is for WR makes me wonder about Van Jefferson. With limited scholarships you dont add this kid at WR if you think Van is on board.

Would have to think its for DB, or at least I hope.

Could be running back also. Jefferson and Perry aren't the same type of player.

A package deal is offering one player to get another. I don't think UT offered Perry to pull Phillips. They would take Perry without Phillips IMO.

Tend to disagree here. Unless this kid blew them away somehow there are several better options at WR and DB than this kid. He just camped at LSU and even if he got attention didnt get an offer.

The lack of offers may be because he didnt play but do we know why he transferred? Possible grade concerns? PJP to Hillwood is an odd transfer.

He still got an attention, and an offer could come later. The coaching staff has been scouting him for awhile and Butch loves to offer first. If LSU was impressed, they probably felt it was time to offer and let things play out.

Look at Perry as an athlete, not a receiver. They were looking for more offensive playmakers along with Jefferson

Except Perry has talent. Bo couldn't throw a 15 yd out in HS and was only offered cuz of Brooks. It worked for Bo and Cutcliffe in the end. Bo had been with Cut at Duke and now is with Broncos.

In warm ups he hit his target every time (dirt) on those 15 routes..

"Unrelated to Jefferson. Vincent will be one of the more highly recruited kids in the state in a few weeks. Amazing baseball player as well. He is electric. Look for LSU, OSU and other bigs to jump on board in offering."

As I throw my hands in the air and say "I don't have a clue."

He lit it up in only 3 games he played last yr. 60 yd td on only carry in first game back. Then over 10 catches for 155 in game 2 and over 185 rushing and KR TD in game 3.

My buddy has been telling this kid is a Star for a long time and to just wait. He said kid is even better person. He told me he is a 5 star talent but he is close to him so I say 4 star talent when taking bias out

With Tennessee currently holding on to 22 verbal commitments and seemingly not much room left in the class of 2015 it was a small surprise Thursday when Nashville athlete Vincent Perry picked up an offer from the Vols.

....

"He told me that he wants me to get down some time next week during practice so we can sit down and talk about where we stand and what position I would play and all that stuff. He said they were offering as an athlete," Perry said.

"It means a lot, really, because they were the first ones to offer me after my surgery and I guess they see potential in me. That means a lot," Perry said. "I did grow up watching them. When I was little I still remember seeing the shots of the old turf field. I called my mom and she was excited and I think she's coming down there with me next weekend. She was happy. She said,' My baby did it.' I about teared up."

But, Perry's story doesn't end with a strong two-game effort at the end of the 2013 football season. Some believe he was playing on a torn ACL as he had his knee scoped for the first time and February to reveal a torn ACL.

Surgery followed shortly after and Perry is now feeling '85' percent healthy heading into his senior season.

"I'm excited. It makes me happy that I get to come back and play all of this year," Perry said. "I feel pretty good. I won't get into pads until some time in August. Right now I"m just putting on my helmet and cleats and just do the same things they do, but just no contact."

...

"I like the coaching staff and the recruiting class. I know a few people that are going there this next year that were in the 2014 class," Perry said, explaining what he liked about the Vols. "The coaches, the players, the facilities, the academics, everything.

"I know Josh Malone, Jalen Hurd, Michael Sawyers, all of those Nashville guys."

Perry plans to be in Knoxville next Saturday, Aug. 9, for the Vols' practice and he hopes to bring his mother.
