Would take him over woods in a heartbeat.

I agree with you totally. Wood will be asked to look around. But I wouldn't be in a hurry to offer Cottrell. I think with limited scholarships this cycle we should go with some flat out ballers

You know he can post impressive SPARQ numbers and run sub 4.4 40s but everyone is missing the glaring problem that will keep him from being a successful RB. That's right kids... No dreds and no tats! Sorry.... NEXT!

Measured at 5-11, 170 (or 178?) lbs. today. Also recorded a 40.8" vertical & 4.09 shuttle:

We need athletes, that's for sure. Those numbers are just sick. When a kid in your back yard is going to these events and showing to be the best of the best, not sure how you can not find a way to take them. IMO the coaches should be able to take an athlete who posts numbers like those and find a place for him.

Bring him in this summer for camp to see if he can ball.

I think his JR year stats says he can ball. 15 yards a carry as a RB is no easy task when your approaching 2000 yards for a season. The Sparq stuff just shows he is an elite athlete. IMO a lot to work with and would not be a bad take.

The 5-foot-10.5, 180-pound Cottrell ranked in the 99th percentile among all SPARQ athletes in the 2015 class in four of the five areas in which he was tested: the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, shuttle and peak power.
He also finished in the 98th percentile with a 39-foot power-ball toss.

Like I said back in February... this kid will get solid D1 offers and 3/4 star rating after he finished the camp & combine circuit. Incredible SPARQ score will certainly get the conversation started and open doors for him.

This years Daryl Rollins
He's better then rollins ever thought about being! Better instincts and just tougher! I watched the kid play this whole year and have wondered why this coaching staff has not offered him. Cottrell made them look silly today! He had better SPARQ scores then two kids we have offered:salute: So worse case scenario he'e a better athlete then Taj Griffin who we offered but wont get and Cj Anderson who we might! But he's a white RB! That is the only reason he does not have the same offers! He's got elite numbers, film shows he can ball!! What else is there? I think another school may be a better fit for him at RB but this will be one we regret if UT does not get him! Randall Cobb and Harrison Smith come to mind... and the 4.35 is the fastest 40 in the country for class of 2015

Cottrell has to be a take. It should be a no brainer.

UT has had so much success recently recruiting the local Knoxville players. They always transition so well to the college game. Especially the Caucasian local recruits. Devrin Young, Josh Smith, Cody Blanc, Tyler Maples, etc. The list goes on and on.

UT should definitely use a scholarship spot for Cottrell and continue the successful pipeline and tradition.
