'15 TN ATH Jaylond Woods (UT Commit 4/20/13)

Sure is great to see the in state talent rivaling the best in the nation. Makes a rebuild a whole lot easier fo sho. It seems like this was never the case before. Must be the limestone!

Man, Rico is tough, kind of player we want in the secondary, of course we are suppose to be getting some good ones this year and I think Sutton will be good. Sucks its not sounding so good for us at the moment with Rico, of course there is tons of time to work on it. Love some Ricos, Rico McCoy, dude could hit. And of course Butch Jones before he was known as CBJ...

is that where his best game is played? sorry, havent kept up with this dude any.

He's naturally good with the ball in his hands. I think he's better on offense but I'm no coach.

Like I said earlier he hasn't had any real coaching yet-- he's really raw.

Also he told me he was being recruited on the offensive side FWIW

Lenoir City will hold his transfer as long as possible just like they did with Camion last year. He will either play at LC or nowhere next year. He will still have his senior year.

They can't do anything about it if his residence changes. Which I believe will be the case.

“I called Coach (earlier that week), and he told me about the camp they were having, and I asked if I could come be a part of it, and he was like, yeah,” said Woods, who’s ranked the state’s No. 10 overall prospect in the 2015 class by 247Sports.

“It kind of was (different coming back as a Tennessee commitment), but then again, not really. But, I mean, it’s just always fun and good coming and seeing the facilities, seeing the field, being able to participate on the field. It’s always good.”

While he was on campus, he said, he did his best to convince some of the other prospects in attendance to join him in playing at Tennessee, telling them “that nowhere is like over here.”

“It’s not like anything else,” Woods added. “This is the best you can get, probably — the best atmosphere.”

Woods said he has continued to stay in contact with Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian, who’s serving as his primary recruiter for the Vols.

“(We talk) usually about once a day, once every two days,” Woods said. “He can’t conversate with me on Facebook yet or anything, so I’ll call him. But now I’ve got Coach Jones’ number and Coach ‘Z’s number, too.”

On other schools offering:

“That’s what I told my coach when I committed — that there’s probably no other place that’s going to beat UT, other than Ohio State, but that’s my favorite team,” Woods said. “And I still wanted to go through the recruiting process. But it’s going to be tough, even with Ohio State, to change my mind because this facility, the atmosphere, it’s amazing. It’s overwhelming.

“(Ohio State has) always been my favorite team, and I have family in Cincinnati. But, I mean, hometown kid, UT.”
