As a person, CRB is right up there with the best. The only question that I have is the length of time he has to establish a stable program, and if he does, will it be maintained or reworked by his successor? Ray Mears to Don DeVoe took 25 years. Since then, or 28 years later, we have had 7 different coaches. It won't be long before that number will increase by 1!

Define "won't be long". Barnes can coach 7 years before he reaches the age of the current NC coach...and I hear Coach K ain't hanging em up anytime soon. So 10 15 years? Since you're at least in your 50s you can probably relate to fellow AARP members that are fully functional well into their 70s? Or maybe you already gave up...then sorry. :hi:

Does CRB's coaching record come up to the standards of CMK's? Will he be able to maintain the progress that he had during his first 10 years at Texas for the next 7 years here? Would it be better to take a proven young coach who may be here for 25 years than a coach who was recently fired due to a less competitive conference record for the past 4 years?

I've already stated that as far as character goes, CRB is in the top of his class. However, there are a lot of good moral coaches out there, but it is current coaching performance that really counts. Besides, I can't see him at UT for the next 10 to 15 years.

Kevin Stallings has been at Vandy for 20 years now and it appears that he has finally stabilized their program to be on par with their baseball program.* A good young coach, such as Steve Prohm, could have the same longevity and get the basketball program stabilized in less time than it has taken Butch with the football program!

*If you don't know the history of CKS's relationship with AD Doug Dickey, then there are plenty of us that can fill you in.

Dude you're swerving all over the place! You slurp at the Tyndall throne...then Zo...now you're pining for unproven mid- major coaches with potential of being great for "25 years ". Let's get through 5 for Christ's sake. We've done the mid- major thing to death and a if you calm down and Wiki Barnes career, you'll realize that he's taken over 3 MAJOR conference teams and left them as winners. That's what we need and it didn't take him 10 years to build Texas into a power! He's got a simple formula...use contacts he's built through the years, recruit, develop and WIN. Maybe Prohm,Underwood et al become that type of coach...BARNES ALREADY IS!!!

Don't care about Kevin Stallings career...he's Vandy's coach. After you complete the homework I assigned you and figure out what we have in Barnes, feel free to compile all you want on Vandy's,Cal's and Murray State's programs so you can watch your gods pilot their programs through their respective seasons.

Thank you for the kind offer of being educated about my own team by you and the unnamed think tank (we?). Sounds like a creepy Scientology session so I'll pass. :hi:

Butchna is right. Alot of garbage posted in here by Buzz. I see the crack pipe is still out. CRB was a homerun hire and he has already stabilized the program in only a month!
