That's one of the things that makes TG special tho, it isn't a straight shot, he can make guys miss and he's 6'4".

It's so tough to pick one for me. Gentry is huge and has a rocket, and Gibson is an elite athlete. If Gibson can learn the mental aspect of the game then id take him but you can't really determine how easy it will be to coach him.

Personally, I think Gentry has more pontential as a passer. That's not to say he has a stronger arm, but I think he has a quicker release, better accuracy, and better zip on his passes. Admittedly, I'm not all too familiar with judging lefty QBs. So I could be wrong. With all that said, the QB position is more than just being a good passer. Bray proved that point. You need a leader under center. So to me its a win/win situation.

I would not be surprised if Butch takes all 3 of JJ, Gentry and TG. Only question in my mind is whether one of the 3 gets scared of the position depth chart.

I think that QB for the Barn did that 3 or 4 times last season. Fairly close to being a straight dash anyway. Seems like he was kinda fast (another reason to hate the Barn).

If Jennings commits on the 7th, and Gentry commits in the next month or so, I have no doubt UT will quickly slide down TG's possible landing spots. He may not come out and say it right away as it will crush his twitter followers. IMO he would no longer be looking at Tennessee.

I'm not a college coach but if I knew I had multiple NFL caliber WRs, I would NOT be looking for a QB who wants to tuck it and run a lot. How would those WRs like blocking on 65 run plays per game? I'm all for having a QB who can tuck it and get 2-3 1st downs a game when needed. A QB who leads the team in rushing? Not for me thanks.

Nailed it, again...


That's why Oregon and Texas A&M never have weapons on the outside. It's amazing RG III did what he did because Baylor couldn't get any WR's worth their salt to play with an athletic QB. I saw that Oklahoma had a lack of talent at WR, probably all because of that darn dual threat QB monkey business.

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but aTm had a big WR,Mike Davis I think is his name, who I would consider a weapon and Baylor has put several WR's in the NFL, including one on the Titans who was a first or second round pick. I agree with the thought of having a QB who can use their legs on occasion over having one who leads the team in rushing, but I don't think having a truly dual threat QB will prevent the recruitment of elite receivers. I think play calling would have more to do with that than the QB's running ability.

Oregon, Baylor, and Oklahoma's starting QBs last year all averaged about 5-7 carries a game. That would kind of fit into my thinking as they would not be leading their team in rushing doing that. QB carries it 6 times a game, he is still tossing 25-35 passes or more. WRs would like that game plan.

Get Gentry and throw the ball. We will end up having a great running game if we recruit well on the offensive line. The LB's will be running out of there to help cover and we will run the ball 50% of the time. If we get a QB that can not throw, we will be in trouble. Our WR's are too good to not get a quality QB that can get them the ball.

The biggest staple in jake's offense is the zone read. Jennings & Gibson have a leg up on Gentry running the ball, but Gentry is mobile as well. One thing I wouldn't want Gentry doing is running a lot & risk taking a shot to those legs since he's so tall.

Gentry clearly has more arm talent than the other two though. Oh well..I'm just happy to actually have this problem.

That's true, but it's a lot easier to be an effective runner against Big East defenses compared to the likes of Florida, Bama, etc.
