'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

So were is gentry trending now?

Kind of hard to get a read on it. He is not really active on social media. Reports from his visits have that "blanket positivity" feel to them. I think Hubbs just said that Tejas may be having some momentum, but there is really no telling at this point.

I would say we have just as good a chance as anyone else he is considering. How far from home he wants to go may be a big issue.

Go recruit Mama! She will determine the distance from home that he goes. This is true for most out of state players. If Mama supports the distance then the player is fine with it.

I just think this kid goes to Texas. Strong can develope qbs and well I know butch gets it but he hasnt developed any qbs that I know of.

Strong is primarily a defensive coach who I'm betting has never coached qbs in his life. He recruited and got T. Bridgewater, but I think it is debatable whether he himself developed him all that much. Honestly, I think Bridgewater got by on his own tremendous talent and playing a weak schedule. Butch has actually delveloped some pretty good qbs: Dan Lefevour at CMU was a hell of a qb and Pike and Collaros at Cinci were pretty good. Jury is still out on whether Butch can do that in the SEC.

Albequerque to Austin isn't going to be a fun car ride by any means, its going to be a flight regardless. Austin does have an international airport I imagine though.

If Gentry's arm is as strong as advertised, he understands the strength in being able to deliver long distance. So what if it is a long distance flight for Mom and Dad? Gentry can deliver Mom and Dad here when "It's Football Time in Tennessee"!!!

If he is leaning toward us, he needs to make his decision lickity-split, cause it's looking like it's a matter of first come, first served (between him, Gibson, Nunez, and maybe Waller). And only one spot remaining.

Have been thinking the same thing for some time. Yes, Stong is a defensive coach, but he knows who to hire to develop his QB's. Meanwhile back at the ranch we have trouble getting one of four QB's who have all been on campus over a year to produce some consistency. Maybe, Worley?

Even more concerning when you consider the quality of our wide receiver corp.

Went to look, the only other QB he can lay any claim to would be adam froman, not to be confused with the sausage king of Chicago, and he put up pretty MEH numbers in strong's first year as the head coach.

Bridgewater put up pretty unimpressive stats his first year(granted it was pretty solid for a true freshman) but he made a leap between freshman and sophomore campaigns.

He's still a very good college QB. It's Strong's job to get him there.

Bridgewater fell in Strongs lap and he was highly rated. Not sure Strong did anything except get lucky. TB is a talented qb who is willing to put in the extra work.
