'15 NC RB Rocky Reid (Wake Forest commit)

Then what are you doing here? Get to work! In the recruiting forum we are all experts at breaking down film on recruits. It's what makes us so awesome! Are you a fountain or a drain? :)

Lol maybe I'm just a puddle

But seriously I just went and watched and if we're to take 2 I want Reid and Bussey. If I had to pick one I'd probably pick Bussey.

I'm pulling for Reid. I don't get the reasoning behind wanting him gone. Power backs are much more successful than skat backs in the SEC. Other than demps and Rainey what back has been successful in the sec in the past 10 years? Lsu, bama, Georgia all have big backs and they're the standard, right now, for how a running game should look. Reid fits that bill.

Can you link me to any posts in the past 10 pages where someone has flat out said they want Reid gone?

Dexter McCluster and Tre Mason come to mind. I agree though, not sure why we recruit some many Slot/APB types. I do really want Ryan Newsome to backfill Pig Howard, but think we should choose between Perry and Bruce.

WE love ya Rocky! Stay with us and keep away from any so called UT Fans that are negative! You will do great things at UT we have no doubt!

Rocky and Hurd will be a 1 - 2 punch like Tennessee of old! Like the years of the Cobb/Webb attack!

I can tell you have never had a relative recruited for a sport by a SEC school.

Have had a good friends son so yes I can speak from hearing his experience and no they pay no attention to message boards and if they did I would question their mental toughness. Wouldn't be anything close to what they will hear Saturdays at an opposing SEC stadium I guarantee.

No problem with Reid if that's who we end up with.

But to answer your question Kenny Irons, Knowshon Moreno, Josh Robinson, Montario Hardesty, Felix Jones, and Trindon Holliday come to mind. There have been quite a few RBs like them have success in the SEC.

Not the smallest but definitely not a Todd Gurley type back.

and the only one I'd call a scat back is Love.

Bussey runs like Maurice Jones-Drew

Maybe the coaches are back pedaling considering Busseys injury and who is left on their board, and also considering how Reid is outplaying a back everyone wanted in Johnny Frasier. I've said all along that Reid is the real deal. He knows we operate out of shotgun and he works hard every day.. I'm ok with that. He also has dreads so he will come in with a clear advantage over guys who do not obtain said hairstyle. JMO though.

Shrine Bowl Top Performers

Reid ran very hard for the better part of the workouts. He was very successful in short-yardage situations running between the tackles and if he broke through the line, linebackers and defensive backs hard a very hard time stopping him. If Reid can keep his shoulders square and downfield, there aren't many linebackers that can bring him down.

FWIW, this was in yesterday's Concord newspaper:

The message board VolNation has a thread with 145 pages about Reid and his recruitment. Fans there are concerned that Tennessee’s constant pursuit of faster running backs could be driving Reid away. He made an unofficial visit to Georgia in November.

Meanwhile, Reid said he is focused on the matter at hand -- helping win the Shrine Bowl for North Carolina.

Reid said Wednesday he was glad to get a chance to play one more week of high school football. After that he will be trying to decide where he will play next season.

"I want to take a look at other places," Reid said when asked about backing off his commitment to the Vols.

I honestly think this kid could be gurley like. He's an extremely hard guy to tackle. I really want him in this class. Also I'm quite sure reid reads this board among other recruits we need to stop some of the bashing especially current commits. Let's be honest most people on here just look at a guys stars. There are countless 3 stars who are elite nfl players. Vincent perry is a guy who everyone bashes and that kid can absolutely play.

Not much impact from us on his recruitment except the goofball hassling on Twitter. I really think they need a pounder like Rocky. He's got a good burst through the hole on his cut and arm tackles are useless. If they want to take a third guy - go with the speed. But don't give up Rocky IMO.

Nobody is bashing Reid. All that's been said is guys who are more in the know than any of us ferl he won't be part of this class because we have guys higher on the board that fit our offense better. That's not hating on him at all.ok say you have a guy who can throw all day but can't run worth a damn but he is the top rated QB in the class. But your team runs an offense like Auburn, Oregon or one similar that required the QB to have good mobility. Do you recruit him and change your offense even though you have guys in place to run the spread or recruit a QB that fits your offense better?

What scatbacks does UT have? Hurd is much bigger than Reid and just as physical but faster and Kamara and Reid are about the same size. Bussey is just as physical as Reid and besides being shorter is the same weight and much faster, Love is the only one that is a smaller pure speed guy.
