'15 NC RB Bryce Love

Well dang. Somebody better tell Auburn they're not running power, then, cause it sure looked like it to me when they ran it down the entire country's throat every game.

Contrary to popular belief, there is such a thing as running power from the gun, y'all. I'm on my phone so I can't type it all out but it's been detailed several times in different breakdowns of Jones' offense on this forum. Has to do with H-backs instead of fullbacks and some other stuff but it's very real, I promise.

Not to mention that in goal line and 4th down situations Jones & Bajakian frequently reach for the heavy, I-form traditional package y'all are speaking of, which I also enjoy watching. We do have one and we do use it.

I agree with you 100% that even though spread offenses are ran out of the gun they are not solely a finesse style offense. There are plenty of "power" run sets that have been ran out of many spread offenses. Auburn is a true example of this. Just because we run 95% of shotgun plays doesn't mean that our running game isn't a power running game. Getting a strong back in Hurd, Reid and pairing that up with a Scott, Love is perfect to mix it up and have that balance of some power running for tough yardage and handing it off for some quick beat you around the corner plays with the two smaller APBs. You can tailor the spread offense in many different ways from a read option, air raid type, power, and etc. A lot of the style of offense ran out of the spread does also have ALOT to do with what kind of QB is in the gun too. Bajakian has a great scheme he's getting implemented in to our guys and with the personnel we are bringing in it looks to be a perfect fit to have a lot of balance to keep the D guessing.

Don't forget about me !!!!!!

I don't know how I forgot about Paulk! He's gonna bring a lot of balance to the offense too! I can see him being very shifty but also having that thud of running downhill and throwing the hitstick at some LBs. Kid is very underrated and will be a hell of a back.

Mike dyer clone hopefully

I'm very excited about Paulk as well. We signed 3 very good RBs last cycle who all bring something different to the table.

Paulk kind of reminds me of Devonta Freeman, who was one of my favorite backs last year.

I could see all 3 RB's becoming good players, honestly.

Didn't Johnny Majors play halfback? Wasn't he up for some kind of award?

One of these isn't in the same stratosphere as the others.

I also like watching Stanford pound the rock but I just want to win, I don't give a damn about the style. Butch's offense can win just like Stanford's. Now that we have some real weapons on offense I can't wait to see what it looks like. My guess is it's going to be pretty fun to watch as a Vol fan.

This...couldn't agree more.

Johnnie Jones, Johnny MajorsAaron Hayden and Al Wilson all agree!

Al was a RB in HS, would been great, but he decided decleating was more fun :)

You left the best off that list, Jonathan Jones of Mumford, Tennesseeee

I could care less what offense we run, to be honest.

Give me 45 points per game, and let e'rybody come get some.

Brah we already tried that once. Put up oodles of points in 2012 but couldn't stop a nosebleed.

Thinking back on it, it's truly unbelievable how horrid our defense was that year. But a blessing in disguise nonetheless.

Just because they run a lot doesn't make them a power running team. Just a run dominate team

And majority of their runs were off tackle or a read option

Doesn't mean they're not "power" in the technical sense of the word, though. A lot of people confuse it for a finesse offense because it leans heavily on the option (which is old-school football itself, irony) and is run out of a bunch of formations, but it isn't. It's a hard-nosed, physical power spread running game. I love the great aerial attack Tennessee has traditionally had and being WRU but that style of rushing attack Auburn has is awesome. If Jones is bringing that to Tennessee, sign me up.

Agreed....that offense with any other defense AT LEAST goes bowling.

Atrocious. Never wanna see anything like that again on Shields-Watkins Field ever.

"One tie that will continue to help Tennessee is the fact that Tommy Thigpen played football at North Carolina with Love's uncle. But, then again, Love's father played football at South Carolina but the Gamecocks don't seem to be as big a player as others."
