'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

What I can't understand is a UT fan that's not impressed with this whole new DL that dominated. Yes, we will face better, but this was a good test for the first game of the year. Just think what they'll be able to do now that this first game is outta the way.

Feel the same way. This wasn't against Austin Pea or South Alabama. USU is a good team and was a very good test for the DL.

Who said I was not impressed? I liked what they did. Just said I would like to see what they can do against better Olines.

I agree. How do you think they will do against the SEC talent? From what you saw, do you think they can stop Bama, Georgia, or Oklahoma? Maybe they will. I'll need to see it though. That's all I'm saying>

I think once they get an SEC OL leaning on them our lack of depth will show but these guys play hard for sure. I'm worried about both lines, the run game tonight was pretty bad but I guess we weren't really opening up the play book. That qb read play got stuffed all night.

Yeah, our oline has a lot of work to do. Our Dline will be very good next year with the addition of KMac and Tuttle along with other talent coming in.

And I seem to remember them saying our DL is completely new and looks vastly improved from last year.

I heard that too. I think we're talking apples and oranges here. Your saying that I was not impressed but I did not say that just that I would like to see them against better talent. Why is that not sinking in for you?:)

Yeah, we might be lol. I'm just excited as hell about how we took care of a team that was supposed to give us trouble or may even beat us.

Just saw him at the tail end of the Vol Walk. Ton of people slapping his hand and telling him to be a Vol.

Just a question and observation:

-Didn't USU have some returning OL and DL starters? UT may be more talented, but I thought they had more experience.

-Thought it was interesting that Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma were quite the popular early picks this weekend by several analysts for the playoffs. IMO, the true test for the 2014 Vols will be against other teams like UF, Missouri, Ole Miss, Vandy and KY.

1. Correct. They did return some starters. They didn't replace both lines completely like we did.

2. Eh don't know about that.

Just thinking that 2014 will again be about making small steps.

Seems that it will be more realistic to compare UT to mid and lower levels of the SEC vs. the upper echelon college football this season since the Vols are probably a couple of more years from having the ability to consistently compete in that group.

Yeah if Bama looks like a playoff team this year I must be blind. I watched a power running football team that's it. None of the teams are out there way ahead of the others.

With that said, one has to wonder if Bama will bring in the transfer QB next week. I would take great selfish pleasure in seeing Kiffin struggling with QB challenges when they settle into their SEC schedule.

Went to game and want to watch on tv now. Any idea when and what channel they will televise again?

I recorded it so I will watch on my DVR but it is being replayed on the SEC Network and ESPNU:

SEC Network: 3:30 AM EST Tue

ESPNU: 12 AM EST Thu

You sharpen steel with steel, or so I've heard. We've got good pieces on o and d line. Lets get Tuttle and Richmond.

I saw Tuttle come thru after the Vol walk. I recognized his face but couldn't put a name to the face, I knew it was either Tuttle or Settle. Wanted to yell but didn't want to yell wrong name.

I sat right behind Tuttle when he was standing on the sideline before the game. He easily dwarfed Jack Jones and Andrew Butcher when they talked to him. The kid is absolutely massive... he had a huge smile on his face and was singing Rocky Top multiple times throughout the game. I really think this kid is sold on UT and will be a Vol in 1 month's time.
