Six months ago,*Shy Tuttle*seemed like a lock to go to an ACC school. North Carolina was one of those schools. Clemson was another possibility.

But with the Tar Heels off-the-field issues and Tennessee’s relentless pursuit of Tuttle, things began to turn in the five-star defensive tackle’s recruitment and the Vols began to have Tuttle’s ear–especially over the summer. Now, it appears, Tuttle has an announcement date. Several outlets have reported Aug. 25 as the date, and Aug. 22 is his high school’s first game–which he and his coach have mentioned before as a time marker, as he wants to concentrate on his senior season. Tuttle is a 6-foot-3, 315-pound tackle from North Davidson, North Carolina–just north of Charlotte.

His announced top five are Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Miami and Tennessee, but the Vols are trending. And Tuttle has a reason for why he wants to be done with it in a few weeks.

“Teams are getting full, and they are running out of scholarships, so I just didn’t want to wait too long to make an announcement,” Tuttle told theWinston-Salem Journal.

“Getting full” could indicate that he’s leaning to Tennessee, as the Vols’ 2015 class is absolutely filling up quickly. The Vols have 22 commitments, but then again, Clemson has 22 also–both classes are among the five biggest groups in the nation at this point. North Carolina, on the other hand, has plenty of room with 15 commitments. Those have been considered the true “top three” for him all year.

Stay tuned, Vols fans. You may have your third five-star commitment in a few weeks (along withKahlil McKenzie*and*Preston Williams).

3 5*'s would all but solidify a top 5 class.

Wouldnt bet on that. A ton of 5 stars left on the board still and most teams arent done. Top 10 for sure but would need some high 4s and a 5 or two to get top 5.

Best guess 7-9 range similar to last year.

Agree. A top 10 would be good. We have too many 3 stars right now. If some of those get healthy bumps it may help.

But who is star gazing. :)

I am thinking 7-9 range as well. No worse than 10 IMO.

I would say that a number of our 3 stars will get a bump by at least one site and inasmuch raise their composite. Rivals and Dormady come to mind real quick.

Agreed. Wont be a Top 5 class unless they finish incredibly strong and replace a handful of highly rated guys with some of the current commits. Don't see that happening.
