'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

Cherry will be leading some nasty Big Orange defenses. This is the type of player you want at MLB. He'll have everyone playing pissed off on every snap.

Cherry was bumped 42 spots in the new 247 2015 player rankings. He is now rated a 90, 4* and is the #210 overall player.

Still underrated.

Defense was the name of the game as Tampa Catholic took the win over Frostproof 21-16 Friday. Star of the stat-sheet was Tennessee 2015 linebacker commitment Cecil Cherry. Cherry was all over the field making plays, totaling nine tackles, a forced fumble, and sacked the Crusaders’ quarterback to give Frostproof a safety. He also had a rushing touchdown.

Totally agree. He'll end up being a National Top 100 guy when all is said and done. Good to see Preston Williams is now getting his due. It is just a matter for time for Cherry. Hell of a start already for the '15 class.

For some reason, I think it's his height. He's right at 6', and height is probably the most overused argument to keep a player rated low. Recruiting services do it over and over.

I'm just trying to find ways to validate the ranking, but I can't. I'm not a talent evaluator, but from watching CFB for a while and following recruiting for a while, anyone can see the differences that make the top players.

This guy is a monster on film, and FL has plenty of analysts that have seen him play. I don't get it.

Visiting for the UT-Auburn game. Really excited to see the stadium rocking. He said he wants to hear a lot of "Rocky Top" because he 'loves it.' Believes in CBJ.

“You know you always have to have a backup plan, but I’m going to follow Coach Jones wherever he goes. (Linebackers coach Tommy) Thigpen, I love him, and (running backs) coach (Robert) Gillespie and the whole defensive staff, I just love it. I love the atmosphere, I love how the city is, and I love how the fans are behind their players, win or lose.”

Also plans to visit Alabama when they play UT.
