Cherry, whos widely considered one of the nations top rising junior linebackers, gave tennessee its fifth known commitment for the 2015 class.
The 6-foot-1, 238-pound cherry who only had visited miami, harris said, before going to tennessee on thursday couldnt immediately be reached for comment.
Harris said cherry also holds early offers from dozens of other major programs, including alabama, auburn, florida, florida state, miami, south carolina, penn state, ohio state, nebraska, baylor, oregon, southern california and washington.
hes been offered by just about everybody in the country, harris said. everybody that has seen his film has offered him.
cherry previously has been timed at 4.61 seconds in the 40-yard dash, harris said, and he plays middle linebacker in frostproofs 4-3 base defense. Harris said cherry also starts at fullback on offense.
