'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

Why hasn't he decommitted yet? Is his Texas offer not committable yet? That would be an interesting turn of events.

If being honest I don't think it is. With what has happened with Cherry and the Vols I can't imagine he would just sit on the commitment list IF he actually loved Texas as much as he claims AND they were ready to accept his commitment. Something seems off there to me.

Still holding out hope that Kirkland decides to NOT take the rest of his OVs and him committing more less pushes Cherry out. I'd find it kind of funny if all the services just removed him from the UT commit list and he did not actually tell them he de-committed.

I think at this point, it looks like Kirkland has decided to go ahead with those OV's and is moving forward with his Army game commitment. My guess is after his USC visit, he gives Butch a silent to secure his EE status.

I wonder if it's late enough in the process where it's Kirkland now or nothing at MLB? Is UT still in it for any other top caliber MLB's? Hopefully it works out in UT's favor.

I'm not aware of any other true Mike lb's we are in on. Maybe we use the spot on a "best available" player if Kirkland falls through. I really do think we get him though, Knoxville is much closer to his home than his other finalists. Think that will play a definitive role.

Regardless as to what takes place and what has taken place, let's respect this young man on whatever decision he makes or has been made for him. Cherry is Elite on the level that he currently plays. Now, how the staff may feel about how that transfers over to the next level may be something different or may not...we really don't know. Either way, let's show class and show him some respect.

And people on here will change to say we wanted Cherry over Kirkland. "Butch done told him to look elsewhere." A fan will tell him to get F'd on Twitter.

Personally I just want one of the 2. Don't care which one. Both are talented kids.

I was a big cherry fan, but the fact that we might get an upgrade from him tells me we're still on the upswing in recruiting. Let's ride high as much as we can

It's just crazy that any player that doesn't sign here is because they weren't good enough, but we haven't had a winning record in how long?

I just remember a previous UT staff thumbing their noses at Patrick Willis (who was begging to come here) because they wanted a higher rated player.

This is best case scenerio, never really liked cherry's ggame.need guys who can tackle in open space and are fast. We got top d line to worry bout the middle. I could care less how hard someone hits as long as they get the tackle.

Cecil took the bait and now may have lost his spot. Sad. He'll justify anyway he wants but he should've stayed loyal and signed with his dream school. Our machine will keep rolling without him.

Cecil's not begging to come here. He was flirting with Texas which opened the door for Butch to flirt with others.

Cecil is a legacy.
Hendrix took visits. Plenty of players take visits.
I'd dare say that CC's visit was result of declined interest from Butch.

Wrong. Thigpen told Cecil that his spot would soon be in jeopardy if he started taking visits. They had quit recruiting any other mike LB's because of Cherry.

This guy is still listed as a commit on rivals. Why not on here?

Patrick was a stud athlete like AL Wilson was. Running back where he basically ran for 200 every game. Cecil can lay a lick but is nowhere near the athlete Patrick was coming out. Also it's hard to blame the staff for doing everything the #1 LB in the nation that everybody wanted said. Brooks wanted to be the only linebacker. Brooks was a monster. Unfortunately for us that was off the field as well. he really could have been something if he didn't have attitude problem making him fight everyone
