'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

It’s not uncommon to see committed prospects — particularly those pledged to a school for an extended period of time — get a bit intrigued by other options as the process winds down.

At this point, it appears long-time Tennessee commit Cecil Cherry will defy any such trend.

Rated by Scout as the No. 13 middle linebacker prospect for the 2015 cycle, Cherry gave his word to second-year Tennessee coach Butch Jones over a year ago. As a rising junior in June 2013, Cherry decided he had seen and learned plenty to know he’d end up playing on The Hill.

Since committing to the Big Orange, the Frostproof, Fla., product has been an active recruiter for the Volunteers via social media.

Do you think that the kids who have to play against Cherry during the first week of the season are starting to dread it?

Opposing players might not even know about him because of him recently transferring schools. He will be playing against all new teams IIRC

I heard he got a part time office job this summer.

Watched that video that POA just posted yesterday with all the commits on one highlight video, Cherry had 4/5 clips IIRC, and he destroys a person in everyone clip, besides the INT he took to the hizzay.
He has some good speed and quick feet, he would destroy people on blocks playing FB. People would be diving out of the way instead of taking him on LOL

Ranked by Scout.com as Florida's 7th-best LB prospect:

Cherry is as solid as they come against the run. He has good size and is terrific tackle to tackle. Cherry can be physical and makes plays behind the line of scrimmage. He has a good frame to add size. Cherry needs to work on his short area quickness and show better ability in pursuit and making more plays out in space.

Sounds like he's a tank but lacks speed.

Cherry can be physical, the sky can be blue, and water can be wet.

Victory Christian head coach Tommy Lewis, who led the Storm to the FHSAA Class 2A state finals this past season, said Cherry hits so hard it's a concern when designing practices.

"I can only think of one other time in my high school coaching career where I was planning practices in such a way to make sure that one of our players is not hurting the other players on the team," Lewis said. "He is one of the hardest hitters in Polk County, and that makes him one of the hardest hitters in high school football.

"Strength-wise and athletically, he is one of the best linebackers in the country. He uses all of those talents and puts them in the right direction."

Cherry proved his enormous strength in April when he finished fourth at the FHSAA Class 1A state weightlifting meet in the 238-pound division at the Kissimmee Civic Center. He finished the competition with a 370-pound bench press and 275-pound clean-and-jerk, totaling 645 pounds.

Pretty much my favorite recruit besides Kahlil. He's going to destroy rb's and qb's. Lethal Cecil. Going to be great to have that fear back on D. It's been too long...

This kid reminds me of AL WILSON so much it isn't funny. Someone que up the UT Florida vid when he demolishes the center, guard, rb and qb. He is gonna be something special!!
