The 5-foot-11, 200-pound playmaker has picked up offers from the likes of Arizona State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida, Nebraska, and TCU. Last week, he picked offers from Clemson, Texas Tech, and Tennessee.

Mississippi State, TCU, and Texas Tech were by Destrehan High School earlier this week, and Florida State has invited him to junior day.

"Junior days…I might take a visit to Texas Tech and Ole Miss and Tennessee," Merritt said.

"I like both, but receiver you only have one person to beat and you're just one-on-one," Merritt said. "At running back, I catch bubbles out the backfield, I catch flares, and they really put me in some space. I like both."
